UV sterilizer

Hi.  I'm thinking of getting a UV sterilizer for my 75 gal aquarium.  Does anyone have any advice as to what specifics I should look for, or what brands are better than others?  Thanks!!

I have never really looked into the matter :/ I think you'd find better info on some larger forum actually :'D

But UV sterilizers are generally not needed in aquariums, they're better to have in ponds where you can't really know what bacteria there are in there. Being introduced from various animals.

Thanks, I'll ask around.  In my research, some say that it reduces algae, etc..  I'll check around more.   Wink

UV s are sweet in fish tanks kills some free floating bacteria like ick and will also help bring down your algae in the tank to that way u have to do less cleaning

get a uv system or better yet a RO water system. the ro system will make in so u have no metal in your water. then u dont need carbon or water conditioners.

Thanks! I think it would be nice to have one.

A UV sterilizer is something you hook up to a filter and it kills free-form bacteria and algae. It's a special light and depending on how fast the water goes in front of the UV light, it kills different bad things. The light doesn't shine into your aquarium, just a small area that the water runs thru.

The UV light is usually inside a kind of tube, one should never, ever look directly onto the light! Wink
