Hey guys it's me, cdale!  Smiley
Not sure if this is a silly question or not?  Undecided While I was cleaning my tank out this afternoon, my bubble stone broke!  Angry
Is it possible to use a pump with just the air line attacted without a bubble stone? Just for a little bit of oxygen?
I hate not having oxygen pumped into my tank! I have ordered a bubble wall which will hopefully arrive in a few days  Smiley But meanwhile wondered what I could do? I will buy an air stone temporary but wondered if I could use it without for tonight?

Anyone got any advice?  Cool

you'll be fine without it....they don't add much oxygen anyway.

An air pump is usually optional in a 10+ gallon tank, whereas a power filter is a requirement.  A power filter does a much better job of circulating water in tank and increasing the oxygen level.  You can still use the air pump with the line the way it is now if you can find a way to make the air tubing  stay under the water.

Air stones I find are more aesthetic and optional than something that's necessary like a filter.

As long as Carlos is acting normal, then it's fine.
I know people say it doesn't bother the fish if they have it or not but I had issues with Lucky bottom sitting when I took the air stone out of the 21 litre tank, to move it into the bigger tank. I'm still not even sure why, unless she just got stressed out, with me taking things out of the tank. I put it back in and she was back to normal in a few hours, but it was very odd behaviour.

As Nabi said if you can keep the air tubing under water, it'll be fine, perhaps you could weigh it down with a rock or something?

Yeah I have a filter with an air pump to circulate the water but I wasn't satisfied with it, didn't think it was giving him enough oxygen?
When I first set up the tank I have it on full but then realised it generated a strong current then read fish don't like it as it acts like a fast trendmill and makes fish feel tired so I turned it down.
He does gulp sometimes at the top of the tank, but sometimes Im not sure it's because he doesn't have enough oxygen or he is playing with bubbles? Because he loves bubbles! Cheesy
As an update I have managed to use a fake plant to hold the tube in the water and I have got a bubble wall coming in the post. I've always wanted one and it will put me at ease that he has enough oxygen in the water! Smiley
Maybe for Lucky it was like a little security blanket? Smiley

You could always buy another air stone, but really, I wouldn't sweat it. As it already was pointed out, an air stone is as useful as an average pebble. Of course, with the disadvantage that you can't even anchor plants with it Tongue

The one I bought was so rubbish! Broke more or less straight away!  Angry So going for a bubble wall! Smiley Find them really pretty!

May also be more sturdy Smiley The bottom of my air stone is encased in plastic, so it can take quite some abuse... Grin
