Anubias Nana and Wood

Hi, today I went to a local aquarium shop and purchased a small but very lovely bush of Anubias Nana. Btw is nana the same as dwarf anubias?

It came in a pot which I have to remove as I have been told in the shop. So wanted just to share with the rest of you folks. Hopefully the picture will be attached.

At the same time I prepared through a complicated process a branch of wood - aged it according to the recommendations found in the articles. It really looks nice but the only problem with this - it is still drifting atop. I know I could tie it to something but I left it like this in the fish tank hoping sooner or later it would come down to the bottom. I know it's quite dangerous but I boiled it for more than 15 hours in total and dried it in the oven for several hours so I guess no critter has been left there hidden. As soon as the wood finds its place on the bottom I'll include the picture. Meanwhile I'll keep an eye on white stuff which might appear on the wood. If it happens I'll remove immediately from the tank. That's I know a sign that the wood hasn't been aged properly.

Maybe you should try and somehow attach it in the gravel and with some rocks? I think the problem here, is that you dried it in the oven before adding it Smiley (But it of course depends on the wood too, some are really heavy, while others basically float all the time unless you anchor them down.)

By the way, It would be better if you'd remove the "fluff" in the pot, it may foul the water, and I don't think it would be very healthy for your fish if they'd go nibbling it Wink

This plant does look like a Dwarf Anubias, which grows out to the sides to create almost a little lawn, so it might also be a good idea to remove the pot completely to let it grow freely Smiley But I know people who prefer keeping their plants in pots since it'll be easier to perform maintenance, so that's up to you to choose! I attached my dwarf anubias to a piece of lava rock and it is growing on that nicely! Wink

Yeah! Those little buggers have incredibly strong roots! Cheesy they grab pretty much whatever they're stuck to, I had mine accidentally growing into a pebble o_o

I found out that Nana and Dwarf are the same plants so that's what I wanted to try. The wood branch is being soaked by the tank water slowly moving to the bottom so in a couple of days it will stay still perfectly.

Yeah, I've read plenty of posts on people showering with their wood in the bath. I decided to go with a quicker method - boiling and oven drying. Now the branch is at the bottom, so far no white stuff on it but will keep on looking at it.

As I have promised here I go with a pic of my new my own aged piece of wood. The tank is old and there are quite a few scratches on the glass. I placed the wood at the front just for the sake of taking picture. Any comments are welcomed.

You also can attach some Ricchia or Java Moss to it.

As i have added anubias nana to my tank I could attach it to the wood hoping for more plants in the future to cover it. Still the wood is under close supervision and it has to pass the test. After this I'll attach something to it.

This is the way I placed both the wood and some plants. Let's see what I get in the future.

I have a piece of bog wood with Java Moss, Java Fern and Anubias growing on it Smiley Strangely enough, my goldies haven't touched the moss Shocked
