Well four of my bigger fry have moved onto a decent local pet shop today and he gave me 1 off an ivory apple snail that we have named oddball. I still have 19 of my little ones but as they get bigger they will be taken there too.

I know I will be sad if all of mine make it and I have to take them to the LFS but I can't keep all of them, there's no way. Mine seem to be doing well and getting bigger all the time. Someone mentioned using Vitachem, so I bought a small bottle of that and have been putting it in the water when I feed them. They are so cute, they are really starting to come out now, and momma knows when I get home from work and head to the tank that means "we get fed" and the little ones are starting to think that way as well and are beginning to understand I'm the lady with the food  Smiley I know what you mean about sucking them up when you clean, I'm terrified I'm going to get one of them and spend half an hour just trying to collect all of them, and have missed a few, but they were pretty smart and stayed out of the way.  Smiley

I have sucked some up before now, the first time I didn't even know they were there and I was just cleaning the tank out when I suddenly saw something move I had sucked 4 up before I noticed but I put them back in the tank and I accidentally sucked black beauty up on another occasion she is fine now though. You just have to keep an eye on them in the tank whilst you do it and check the bucket before you pour the water away.
Sounds like you are being a good fish mum to me.

That's how I found mine, just little dots moving thru the water, thank goodness they are getting bigger and can be seen much easier  Cheesy Their so cute and I'm really curious about some of the darker ones, I had 3 panda's and I wonder if any of them will be that color. The orange are really getting bright so I recongnize them right away, the others are a little bit harder to spot, but I'm really glad I've been able to enjoy this experience. Wishing you luck with Black beauty and keep us posted  Smiley

Don't worry I will defo keep you posted. Black Beauty is fine she is the same size as the four I took to the shop yesterday. Actually when I was catching them my partner turned around and said "that ones big enough" I was like that ones going nowhere it's black beauty lol! I can't wait until I can actually gender them as I know I can keep one male and 3 female and I need to know which black beauty is before I make any plans.
Has anyone heard of a fish only ever having fry all one gender?
Keep us posted on how your little ones are doing. Would love to see more pics of them as they grow.

I breed platys and swordtails, it's pretty easy to take care of babies. If you haven't taken them out of the adult tank and don't have some kind of java moss in it, take them out into a diff tank, otherwise the adults will eat them. You can feed them crushed up grownup food, I've done it for years and it works fine. Good luck!

And I'm assuming you know how to gender fish? With platys you can't tell till they're pretty big, I've had baby platys who were boys, but then as they got older, turned into girls.
