All right, I am about to get my first set of goldfish, but I can't make up my mind. I'm getting two, and they need to be easy. I was thinking about pearlscales, just because I like them, but I wouldn't mind for a different choice. Could you guys put up something and help me out? I've got plenty of time, about two weeks, until I get the two. Answer back!

All goldfish, including the fancy varieties, will grow to a minimum length of 6 inches, so they are not considered 'small' fish. The comet goldfish will grow to 8 inches or more.
If you want really small fish, i would take a look at tropical fishes such as guppies and bettas. They are relatively easy to take of and don't require a big tank like goldfish.
If in the end you still decide that want goldfish instead pearlscales, fantails, and orandas are pretty and relatively easy to take care of. Stay away from the bubble eyes, celestials, and other goldfish with deformed eyes since they get sick easily and have a very hard time seeing food and things around them.

Thanks for the info, I know a place that is screaming with fantails. Plus, I'm saving more than enough money to buy a bigger tank when the time comes. I was also thinking about red capped orandas, they are pretty, I agree.

I would say of the types of goldfish i've had orandas seem to be the friendliest, and most outgoing. Fancy fantails are also very friendly and very easy to take care of. Orandas and some fancies with wens are susceptible to infections (ie. hole in the head disease) which both of my goldfish are battling now, so you have to be very good about keeping their water as clean as possible. Both of those types of fish are also very trusting, at least mine are. They'll let you pet them, hold them, move them and hand feed them... In the future they'll be the type i stick with, i'm in love with my orandas and fancies...

Alright, that's 2 for orandas. Well, I guess that's also 2 for fantails, technically. By the way, I wish your goldfish luck and i hope they can make it.
