Betta Fin Rot

 I got a beta that has fin rot because I felt sad that it was sick.

1. 2 gal
2. 3 weeks
3. 1 beta
4. beta
5. need to get a test kit
6. everyday
7. 30%
8. Amnoque
9. yes
 10. ripped fins
11. just got him today and he had ripped fins
12. i dont know
13. dont have any other betas
14. i don't have a camera

If you saw he was sick in the store, then why didn't you buy meds to treat him? Smiley
#1 he needs fresh water and a water condtioner for bettas.  I use Aqueon betta plus because it also puts the correct minerals in their water.
#2 You need to get a med like betta fix and use it according to the directions. Wink
That was nice of you to try and save a poor Betta but you have to be prepared to treat with the right medicine too!

What meds are you treating with then?? Betta fix or something designed for fin rot should do the trick, keep an eye on your water quality and make sure you feed him lots of good things like frozen bloodworms Smiley Are you sure it isn't the way the betta is meant to be though? Is there anyway you can get a photo?

Andrea is right, it could be good to have a look at some medication specifically for bettas Smiley

But some tend to have their fins nipped in the pet shops by the other fish (unless this one was kept alone) so it may be just physical harm, where you won't have to use any stronger meds than melafix/salt Smiley
Some bettas also have a kind of "torn" look on their fins, as they have been bred just for that particular trait. However, it's not very hard to notice whether the fins are healthy or not.

I'd really like to see a photo as well! Smiley
