i think i want this fish Cheesy
or any exciting looking one that is healthy lol
i'm thinking of getting a 2.5 gallon tank and i'm assuming i can buy a small filter for it. do these tiny tanks cycle at all? i'm not really sure how often to change the water regardless; i saw on here to do i believe 20-30% twice weekly? i'm also wondering if i need a heater because it's always quite warm in the dorms (shorts and a t shirt practically year-round).

45L seems to be the ideal with low flow rate.Sometimes they are kept in small, unheated bowls or vases but this is far from ideal and can kill the fish quite quickly. A heated aquarium is a much better home

Ok, so you shouldn't have a filter in anything under five gallons, it will just make the current way too strong and your betta won't like that. To keep him/her healthy you'll need to chang the water once a week, filter or not. In a five gallon with a filter, just do a partial water change. In anything under five gallons, 100% water change. Search betta fish and a good number of betta sites will come up, my favorite one is (Link is not visible to guests. Please register to view.)

10 gallons is around 35 - 40 litres? I think that would be okay? What do you other guys reckon? Smiley

Bettas are great pets and can live in a bowl with no fillter,heater,or light but I think your tank for the betta should have a fillter,but if you want a heater put one,but you don't need one.I have had 6 bettas and ALL of them lived to be over 5 years old one live almost 10 years old. Shocked So if you want to know more about them just ask me. Smiley
