Goldfish Fin Broken - pls help!

My 6 year old son, probably because of his curiosity and excitement, accidentally broken the top dorsal fins of our 2 goldfish.. I just learned of it when he confessed to me this morning.. Now I can see a horizontal break on our Oranda and Ryukin.. there's a bit of blood smeared around the wound..

Now my question is : Will it be healed overtime or shall I treat it with some medicine or take them to fish vet?.. is this something I should worry?.
Im just worried that this might cause infection that will cost them their lives if I just ignore this.

As for my son, he had a good lesson about this incident.. I hope he will learn from this.

Hi Jam,
I would do this:
1) Add 1 TBS aquarium salt per every 5 gallons of water in the tank.
2) Try to get some Melafix as that is a natural tonic that helps prevent infection and also heals torn fins and wounds. You can get it at walmart even.
3) Keep a close eye on the wound area and if there is any cottony growth you will need to get a fungacide such as Pimafix.  You can use the salt, Melafix and Pimafix all at the same time and they work well together.
Both Pimafix and Melafix are by API.

Just a question, What are you're fish kept in? I'd like to know how your child got to the fish. They must be very very tame to want to coem up to those searching fingers

Our Humphrey broke his dorsal fin a while ago, don't know how he did it...
There wasn't any blood showing, but a white little spot where the fracture was.

I treated with Pimafix and Melafix and salt tonic just as Mindemae suggested.

Humphrey is fine, his fin is almost straight, but there always will be that tiny little bump, I believe

Dorsal and tail fin healed pretty quick.

Yes, Humpsi is fine, got his good old temper back in no time, I treated with Melafix asap, just dunno how he did it. I agree, he looked a bit frazzled, like at Easter when he got stuck in the rock... remember?
