Red spot on its head

My goldfish has this red spot all of a sudden. Does anyone know what it is? The pet store told me it just needed a bigger tank, so I got it a 10 gal. Will that solve the problem or do i need to get it medication? Sorry that the pictures aren't that great. The little guy just swims like mad.

I'm so glad you got your fish a bigger tank!!
He will be much happier and possibly live longer if you take care of him properly.
As for the red spot it is hard to tell from the picture but it looks to me like your fish doesn't have a dorsal fin and so he may be a ranchu? Therefore if this is the case then that would be his wen developing. As your fish gets older his wen will get bigger too.

I think I can see a dorsal fin on the second pic,? How young is your goldfish?
Could be the wen developing, like Mindemae said

He looks like a fantail to me... Just a normal fantail, but it does look like some swellings on his head, so if he DOES have headgrowth, it could be a small infection in it, so I would simply try feeding him with some medicated foods, antibacterial, and treat the water with some medical aquarium salt.. possibly a bit of melafix just as pre-cautions.
But if there isn't any headgrowth, I'd like to ask for some details, what does this red part look like? Is it plain red, or are there little holes? Are you testing the water regularly, and if so, did you have water quality problems lately?

Well, when I posted there wasn't a second picture!
Yeah, looks like a fantail but could be an oranda with head growth starting to develope.
Your pictures are kinda blurry.
It wouldn't hurt, as a precaution to treat as Nossie says.
