hi all these are some of my babies!

Hi all joined last week and love the people here so far. very nice and down to earth.  here are some photos of my babies and i will try to link some videos too.

1) buttons (cute as a button with button eyes)
2)yo-yo (likes to spiral swim to top of tank when hungry)
3)cupie doll (shes my big girl almost 7 inches now)
4)cutie patootie (RIP my sweetheart)
5)spunky (fun and playful)
6)peepers (stares out at me all time with those big peepers)
7)georgie porgie (think that will be his name because he kisses the girls even if they dont like it lol)
8)sparky (RIP you little attention hog)
9)pugsly (sweet little chubbo kindof has some pearlscales)
10)cheeky (poor baby cant see much anymore but he seems to not mind gets around like a pro)
11)pumpkin aka punky (love my little redhead)
12)shmoo (like the cartoon character)
13)eeyore (he looks sad all time like eeyore)
14)pudgy (little piglet lol)

Yep goldfish connection is my favorite place to buy he quarantines his fish soooo long and they are very heathy. The little red and white oranda with the long white tail ( spunky) was a birthday gift to me from ken and his girlfriend (all fish on goldfishconnection from him) he is a great person. Had called him and asked if I could get fish I bought on the 17th so I could open them for my fortieth bday then when I got them I opened box and there was my little surprise was such a sweet thing for them to do, he said it was least he could do since I was becoming an old lady lol.

Are they traumatized by their trip ever? I am very curious as I have considered ordering via the mail. BTW Happy belated birdthday to you  Grin hope you had lots of fun!

Thats is alot of fish and beautiful ones at that!! How many tanks do you have?? I would love to see you set ups and also am curious about fish travelling through mail like April.

I'm pretty jealous, I really wouldn't mind having some of those Ranchu's Tongue

Thanks all for compliments always nice to have other appreciate your fish! never thought i would spend money i have on these little things but each time i say well whats 20 more dollars lol. and the are investment that will live a long time is cared for properly. i have only spent money i have made by buying aquariums on craigslist cleaning them up nicely and reselling them and buying lots in bulk making a setup and selling it. i also get my big aquariums on there.
70% of my fish i have gotten from mail to my home and others I got at a small local petstore that ordered them from japan and 3 from chain petstore. cupie, cutie patootie(RIP) spunky, peepers, buttons, alby, bear, georgie porgie and the 4 new ones i have coming are all from ken at dandy orandas aka goldfishconnection.com he gets most of his fish from overseas, he will be having one more aution starting sunday then he is relocating and won't have another till around february but now is best time to get from him he is doing no reserves on his auction with lower starting prices and $20 off s+h because of the move his shipping runs around $60 ussually depending on how far you live from him that man packs his fish so well its amazing and i get my fish within around 15 hrs after he sends them, the next auction starts on this sunday at 6 pm MST. because he quarentines so long and does scrapes checking for parasites ect.. right before he ever puts them on auction and his fish are so healthy (he has the best reputation) i never quarentine his fish myself (generally this bad idea but that is how much i trust his methods). I got shmoo, pugsly, punky and yo-yo from Tommy at goldfishnet.com, he gets all his fish from china he goes over there and picks them out, he gets all kinds ryukin, ranchu, oranda, lionchu, panda types ect.. and his ranchu are pretty much all the chinese short chubby body with larger wen but his fish all run generally $90-$150 plus s+h he does either 1 day shipping at $60 or two day @ $30 mostly unless fish very large. pudgy, cheeky, patchy and my daughters other fish piggy (oranda), telly (telescope), tubby(ranchu), toodles(moor), googles(veiltail telescope) (no pictues yet)and sparky (RIP) all came from japan they were order for me by small local petshop (that was awful experience they lost 90% of that shipment because they got left outside in 95 degree weather by airlines for 12 extra hrs took those fish weeks to recover i bought so many so i could help them recover the men at petshop said it was one of worst things they ever saw opening those boxes and seeing all the beautiful babies gone amazing ones survived that did my babies strong, grown men almost in tears). poppet (RIP) and waddles, nibbles (no pictures) are only fish i bought from major pet chain and i will never do it again poppet lived for 5 months but had that strange black show up on her wen that i could never heal within 3 wks of getting her and other two are stunted at 1 1/2 and 2 inches and they are 6 months nibbles (oranda) has permenant swimbladder and waddles ( a oranda with butterfly tail) is inverted ( lives on his head).

here i go rambling again lol.
 I have not lost a single fish in shipping. here is what i have noticed from fish shipped to me. the larger the fish the longer takes to recover. the little ones recover very quick. Kens fish snap back the quickest within a day or two except cupie who was 6 inches when i got her took her about a week to acclimate. the chinese ranchus (4.75 inchs) i got from tommy took a long time to recover sulked like children at bottom of tank quarentine tank (scared the heck out of me)  at for a good 5 days and barly ate. and after that they had balance issues for weeks. I honestly think it has to do with shape of fish they are quite round and deep bodied with good size wens.  only large fish i got that recover right away is the black oranda georgie (5 1/2 inches), makes me wonder if large ranchus in general are ones who have hardest time.
per instructions from sellers i keep lights off and dont feed for a day then feed less for a few more days.
honestly love get those boxes in the mail like xmas every time i get one. i know i like to see the personality in stores and pick them out but i have been very lucky and got great personality all around except for georgie who is is a bit of a bully but i have noticed in past few days he has gotten better i wonder if it was part of him checking every one out and saying hey i am boss now. he has started to show some cute traits and the two littlest fish in tank follow him around like hes daddy and like to rub in his tail and he is very tolerant of them. havent seen him nip in two days and it was always cupie, shmoo, yo-yo, pugsly and pucky he messed with all female ranchus never messed with small fish or other males. maybe he looking for girlfriend lol. wonder what oranda  + ranchu baby would look like or if they can even breed healthy babies?

Geesh i can ramble huh. well when it comes to my fish i can talk allllll day lol. lol you guys gonna get tired of me fast its just i feel like i can everyone on here seems so easy going and seems to care for fishys Cheesy

April and andrea or anyone else for that matter if you do decide to order via mail then you are more then welcome to ask anything of me.

i have A 90 gallon, 75 gallon, 55 gallon setting up since getting new fish and out of room lol and my daughter has a 40 gallon. plus i have a 20 gallon quarentine and a 10 gallon hospital.

I have also ordered fish successfully online before (not goldfish though) and they all arrived perfectly fine!
They were packed in the usual plastic bags filled with air and water and then placed inside a foam box. Because it was winter time the company also put a little heat pack inside the package to keep the fishies warm. They shipped with express over night air mail.

I think its fine to buy fish online if necessary, but make sure you are buying from a reputable company first Smiley

I will try to get some good pictures or video of my tanks but they are kindof boring.
I have a paranoia about plants in my tanks and my fish getting caught in them. And I had decorations but between my big white baby Cupie who hurt herself on them several times and cheeky who is almost blind and who runs into things in tank I don't have them in there anymore. Also went bare bottom few months ago. Just bought some medium size rounded rock for them to play with that I am getting cleaned up and put in. And I have a soft fake anemone but other then that they bare.

I know I will never be comfortable with plants since I lost my only goldy to a entanglement when I was a teenager, had her (Buffy) for 2 yrs no problems then went and got her a plant and she got tangled and died broke my heart.
The plants and stuff you see in the photos are from the pictures of when I bought them from the seller. Alot of the photos are the photos seller advertised with, they take such good photos so I used those.
I know some of you on here will not like that my fish have no hiding places bur after Cupie bruised herself several times by bumping her large wen into objects that were not even sharp it has become better for her. Here is a picture if what she did to herself one of the times and it was happening consistently. I have spoken to some experts on goldfish keepers and with ken from goldfish connection and they say that the large wen fish like mine get damaged easy and that most with the large ranchu with fat wens are safer with a minimal tank. I have seen many videos on keepers now that I notice it to be true except alot do plants and a few stones.

I do feel badly about them not having the hiding but I couldn't stand seeing my baby hurt. And if I put plants I would never get a moments peace. I am a major worrier heck was so nervous about leaving my fish for 3 days in a bare tank.

I know my fish are very very well loved, spoiled and happy. They get the best of everything I can buy. A few of them love to be petted (I know I know I shouldn't touch them but I scrub my hands and under my nails with hottest water I can stand before I do it ) cheeky, Cupie and pudgy all will come and lay in my hand  for a long time getting their bellies rubbed and serveral other come around for a pet here and there. And some of the new ones are starting to come around to see what everyone is so interested in lol.

I pet my orandas all the time.
They are like big fat puppies.
I call them my Aqua-puppies! Wink
Whenever, I have my hands in the tank they come rushing over for attention.
If they hear my voice they rush to the front of the tank...they are so cute and endearing to the heart! Smiley

lol. well i actually have run into a two people on goldfish keepers that have said "omg you are aiwi, you outbid me lol" one lady said the second time she saw me bidding for fish she wanted she quit lol. one was for cupie. Ken auction about 100 to 130 fish every 2 weeks so chances we want all same slim lol.  probably cant get any next auction need to resist incase i want to keep several of the babies i am getting so i can grow them up.

And I wonder... why are you so utterly paranoid about plants and rocks? Completely natural things in a goldfish tank and it helps them feel comfortable! I've got this medium sized gravel that they can easily pick up and spit out along with a forest of different plants. It just looks far more beautiful that way! I wouldn't want an empty tank, it'd look like I'm constantly quarantining my fish.

Really, won't you upload some full tank shots?

Rick runs the site it is his website but ken is Dandy Orandas which is where the auction fish are from. Ken uses Ricks site for auction. Not sure if Ken has anything to do with site except using it for that.

I will post some pics and video of full tanks asap. Today i am preparing for the babies I am getting and doing my water changes. Doubt i will have time today but will try need to get off the darned computer and do my work lol. And tomorrow i have to leave town for couple days my 5yr old daughter has severe juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and we need to go to childrens mercy in kansas city for some testing and stuff. so if i can't get to it today will do it next week. And i did buy some medium stones for them to play with and i have a soft fake anemone in each tank that they love to fiddle with (plan on few more). as for gravel the smaller stuff was dangerous removed it few months ago and i did have some midsize like what you are speaking of but even with my frequent cleanings extra filtration and not being overstocked i was battling some bacteria problems in the wens of the fish and i threw it away instead of cleaning it, was frustrated and sad last week after i lost second fish in that tank didnt want to take anymore chances i know i could have bleached it but was upset and being over cautious at that time. and  like i said i had some very nice decorations that were considered safe for fish but cupie doesnt stop in time and sometimes she even bangs her wen on the glass of tank and filter tubes when she gets swimming you saw the picture that was only one of several times she hurt herself, she has a small bruise right now but at least the injuries not as bad as the ones with decorations she is very social with other fish so i refuse to put her by herself in separate tank.
My fish are happy and spoiled as far as i can tell. they get best food and treats they have the little anemones they like, as for places to hide i dont think thats a big deal and plants well we all have our own fears and thats mine, was pretty traumatic time in my life when i lost that fish as a teen had many bad things going on and she was my friend and comfort. Not all of us can control what scares us so please dont judge me for it. Not all tanks need to have plants many happy fish out there without them. Heck i am sure there are people with plants in tanks that that care way less about their fish than i. Maybe someday i will try some plants that are potted for tank (wont do gravel again bacteria wonderland) but i am not ready.

I think my tanks are beautiful because of the fish and the bubbles and few little things and dont see them as looking like hospital tanks.  it has not been long since i removed most of the stuff so eventually i might get tired of just the few things in it, but i doubt it because i love watching them more then anything. I my case with cupie i see it as more or a childproofed home then a showplace lol. well enough of feeling guilty and defending myself at same time.

I'm not sure if I want to do the graveless tank set up.
I have gravel in my tanks and so far my orandas have been fine.
I just love the live plants.
I think I am addicted to the plants as I am to the fish sometimes! Roll Eyes

The first video is my old tank I took down right after my I got the 90 gallon for my bday excuse quality didn't download it in high red because it was longer and would take forever.
Second video is mostly of new fish right after I set up 90 gallon before I added the bubbles and anemone forgot to reprime the filter so it wasnt working right so excuse all the stuff settling at bottom that freaked me out before i figured that out lol. Will be adding some medium round stones later tonight. I swear my tanks don't look quite that bare lol (almost lol). I will try to get some better videos soon of all tanks. Would show living room tank but only video I have is when fish were sick and I was fighting illness and wanted advice.

couple pictures of my community tanks i used to have. the one with Angels busted at night and all my fish were killed but just putting it here to show how i have decorated in past. next tank i took down and sold when i decided to do only goldies hex tanks dont have enough surface air to be good for goldies i was told. and last tank is my 75 gallon before i took out the gravel river rocks. only full tank shot i have right now.

thanks guys!

as for used tanks me too. craigslist is my best friend. Traded a swingset i had that i was going to give away for the whole 75 gallon setup (white tank)including stand, filter ect... And my new 90 gallon we got for $150 with stand, filter ect.. both almost new white one was 6 months old and 90 gallon only a yr. That hex tank w stand filter ect.. cost me $75 and i sold it for $200 lol (it was acrylic so sold for more). Have bought cleaned up and resold around 5 tanks and made at least twice what i paid thats how i can afford my fish Roll Eyes.
