There are many other threads about this! But for instance, you should buy another kind of staple food, preferably pellets, as they're easier to swallow. You should also buy some live foods like blood worms, tubifex, krill, brine shrimp or artemia shrimp. They're available in gel, frozen and freeze-dried. Very easy to serve, and very nutritious!

For vegetables:
Peas: Buy frozen peas that you thaw and pop out of their shells before feeding. You can cut them in smaller pieces if needed.
Cucumber and zucchini: Peel it and slice it rather thin. The fish will especially like the seeds in the middle, so you can split the slice too.
Carrot: Make sure that they're not salted or spiced, but boiled.
Lettuce: Take a leaf or two and "plant" them in the gravel or attach them to a clip on a suction cup to the side of the tank.

Remember to take any leftovers out after about 12-24 hours or they'll foul the water. Don't feed the fish anything else while the veggies are in the tank!

Banana, water melon, strawberries: Cut small pieces for your fish.
Orange: Peel it and give only the fruit pulp.

Fruits are usually more juicy than veggies, so take them out after a few hours and do a bigger water change after feeding. It's pretty good if you'd give fruit the days when you'll change water! And you don't have to feed fruits too often as long as you have a good staple diet with vegetable matter, and feed your fish with vegetables once a week. Fruit can be like treat!

There are also some recipes of home made food available, but it's usually time consuming to prepare, and your fish will be healthy without that too as long as you vary their diet!
