My Family!

Pictures of my family - here's the water quality, do you think it's alright?
Nitrate = 20 ppm
Nitrite = 0 ppm
Hardness = 75 ppm
Chlorine = 0 ppm
Alkalinity = 80 ppm
pH = 7.2 ppm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's the pictures:
1 - The entire family! [Jingle (top left), Zodiac (top right), Jenga (middle), Nugget (bottom left), Batal (bottom right), Pebbles (silver and gold one near the middle)]
2 - Batal at the surface
3 - Zodiac with Batal underneath her
4 - Jenga with Nugget's head peeking in
5 - Jingle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One more quick thing - I know the tank is small. I really want a bigger one. For those of you who don't know the situation, I might have to let a couple fishies go...

Awwww, how sweet and cute, they all are so lovely and adorable. No chance to get some bigger tank? Did you have a look at Craigs list ?
Water is very good, I assume that Ammonia is 0 ppm too. Well it should be.

Awww...they are adorable.
I hope you can get a bigger tank for them since it would be so hard to choose which ones to let go..

I agree with Minde.
Keep a close eye on waterquality, even if it means to change the water twice a week. But please make sure you use waterconditioner and add beneficial bacteria to the fresh water too.
So you may be able to keep them until you CAN have the bigger tank?

well, see the thing is, my parents won't let me get a 60 gallon tank for them. Two of my fish might go to my school and act as classroom pets (my friends are really happy about that), but I'm not sure if I should empty out my 29 gallon tank since it already has a whole bunch of community tropical fish.
Basically I'll have to wait and see how big they get and how soon before I make any huge decisions.
~~ I recently changed the water in my tank - took about 2 hours since the siphon doesn't work for the tank because it is lower to the ground. so I had to empty my tank of fish, clean out the decorations and gravel, and take out half of the water and replace it with new water, then put my fish back in. Lol, probably gonna have to get a different siphon!)

Quick question - how old do you think my goldies are? I have had them all for approximately a month (Batal, Pebbles and Zodiac for a month and 1/2, the rest for 3 weeks or so)

They are all very cute
My favourite of course is Batal
I don't understand why your siphon isn't working, do you mean you can't get a bucket lower than the tank? I dunno if a new siphon will help this then
Maybe buy a taller cabinet so you're tank is higher.

Hard to tell how old they are, most times when you buy them at the petshop they are about 4 months old ( average )

They're all really cute!
But don't worry, a 20 gallon works far better for your fish than a 10
And I was keeping my fish in a 10 gallon for at least 4-5 monhts! The last weeks I was changing water and cleaning the gravel every third day, because 6 fish in a 10 gallon is pretty hard core on the filter.
Anyway, I had my 83 gal by then anyway, just couldn't get it set up yet
So... it will be alright! Before that I was keeping them in my 8 gallon biOrb and the 10 gallon, all 7 fish :C Just do your best, the water is perfect

Thanks Nossie! That's really helpful
Quick question: Can you tell if my fishies are male or female?

Oh, also -
Andrea: the bucket basically is just much higher than the tank, but I can't get another stand for lack of space.
But it's not too hard to do it by hand

From these photos, I can't really tell what gender they are, and they look pretty small still, so it'd be really hard
But we've discussed the same thing in another thread if you're interested in trying to determine their gender yourself!
It should be in the "General discussion" section
