I just skimmed three books and found nothing unless "the eye is protrouding in an abnormal way" If so it might be pop-eye. Hang on I'm sure someone more experienced will help soon. It would be helpful if you read the thread at the top of the illness forum and followed the directions, posting the details it asks for.

I think if you could post some photo's of these 'bubbles' Syn that would be really helpful, as I've never heard or come across this either, but I'm sure we can help you out, if we can see what it is your talking about

Okay so I've been looking around a bit and you say the fish didn't have these bubbles for the first 6 months?
It could be possible that you actually have a celestial or bubble eye goldfish.
The bubble eye goldfish develop their eye sacs after they're 3 months old... so maybe not that.. hmm
As for the celestial bubble eye goldfish their eyes are normal at first but the eyes begin to protrude outwards like a telescope-eye goldfish and then turn upwards within a period of 6 months.

Both fish I believe have fan tails.

Good idea Skwishee, I didn't think of that! Does the fish have a normal dorsal fin (top fin)? Purebred celestial and bubble-eye do not have one. But it could be a mixed-breed of some kind....

Oh interesting info Nossie I didn't know that, I know the idea of breeds was a bit hap hazard but it was all I could think of XD

Although I don't think fish are born with physical eye sacs and things from the beginning, from what I read, they develop a little while after they've hatched, so the fry will have perfectly normal eyes, you wouldn't see the protuded eyes/eye sacs until their a little older   (At least this is what wikipedia says it could be wrong XD)
