Hi I recently got some goldfish, doing well with them for the time being.  I just like to know what can I feed my goldfishes besides fish flakes and sticks. I heard some people talk about goldfishes are omnivourous (eat most things).
What I like to know is can I acutally feed them those below or anything you can add to chart thats good for them
orange
spinach
lettuce
pumkin
peas
shrimp(frozen in the supermarket (no shell))
and also do i need to dd salt to the water sometimes to prevent infection
I have 3 orange fantail?? 1 lion or fantail brown 1 blackmoor(more likely) or a fat telescope eye

Be very very careful with shrimp, especially if they are raw. since there are very few standards for biologically cleaning the shrimp you buy in the store, many of them still have marine bacteria in them which is potentially lethal to your tank.
it is much better to avoid pieces of shrimp because of the bacteria problem and also because goldfish are not actually carnivores. their digestive tract is long, designed to break down plant matter and cell walls rather than absorb muscle tissue. they can process meats and such, but most experts on goldfish agree that a fish's  diet should not have much protein in it (about 20-25%) compared to fiber and carbohydrates.
However, goldfish do eat a wide variety of vegetables. My mentor said that large goldfish enjoy small chunks of zucchini for their meals and it was years until i followed that advice. the largest goldfish in the tank (about 11 inch-ers) surprisingly like the zucchini and prefer it over very soft cooked carrots. the smaller ones like the carrots, however.
