Just ordered these guys:-

6 ea.    Black Neon Tetra (should go well with my Neons)

2 ea.    Red Cherry Shrimp ( good cleaners I believe)

2 ea.    Dwarf African Aquatic Frog (these are really cute, but a little shy)

Really looking fwd to these arriving..all supposed to be quiet community guys Grin

What other fish do you keep the shrimp with? I've been thinking about getting a few of those for my community tank, but I'm not sure how they'd do with platies. My platies were sort of picking on the snails, so I'm concerned they might manage to eat the shrimp... :c

you should be all right keeping shrimps with quiet/shy fish like Bristlenoses, Tetras , zebra/apple Snails. Algae Eaters ,   Corydoras, Dwarf Gouramis..maybe even a Red Claw Crab

a heavily planted tank and lots of hiding places, seems to be the order of the day.

I think Platys can be a little too active at times to be kept with shy fish

Aww wow exciting! I was thinking about getting Shrimp for the snail tank, but I think one animal multiplying like crazy is more than enough  Wink Would love to see pics of your community tank Scrivens  Smiley

When Lucky has her new pond, I will have her 110 litre tank to play with! Grin

Date Ordered: Tuesday 22 May, 2012

The comments for your order are: Thank you for your order. Your fish will be
delivered tomorrow by courier.

Busy day acclimatising the fish in my quarantine tank. Then gradually introducing the fish to the community tank, over a number of weeks Grin

Well technically it's useful volume is 90 litres/full volume 110 litres.
But every time I try to think about what I could put in it, I just end up in the middle of fish land with too much choice!

I think about how awesome it would be to have some cichlids, or khuli loaches, or a betta sorority tank, or heck even have a community betta tank, maybe even go as far as setting up a river manifold and having hillstream loach with minnows and danios... the list pretty much becomes endless and then I come to no conclusion XD

11 a.m. My fish have arrived...am floating bags to equalise temperature. All are alive and moving well

I've put a bit of nylon stocking over the filter intake to stop the shrimps getting caught

Aww man this is making me want gourami now..... haha I was considering cichlids, but these guys look intriguing... are they peaceful, or do they need territories?

depends on which ones you get, most species are sold "sexed", so that you can buy just females or a male and a small harem. even the shy ones get a tad aggressive come breeding season..lots of hiding places  etc..same story, different fish Grin

what I find remarkable is that they can be swimming at top-speed and just stop , with no apparent deceleration. The laws of Physics don't seem to apply to them!
