Comet hiding all the time

Hi, i added a orange and white comet goldfish to my aquarium on saturday, for the first couple of days he was very sociable with the other fish, but he has for the last few days hid in a temple ornament we have in the tank (which is well filtered), the only other fish in 70 litre tank are a shubunkin, a loach, a black moor and a small orange goldfish, is this typical or is he spooked or maybe just settling in? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is most likely a water quality issue, and also a bunch of fish that aren't even compatible..
To keep these 4 goldfish, you need a 150-200 liter tank MINIMUM. Each goldfish needs40-80 liters of water, you do the maths Wink
A tank upgrade would be the best solution for now. Try finding a 200 liter and start cycling that while performing lots of smaller water changes every week on the current tank.

He seems to be doing fine now, out and swimming about, water quality is good, went to the local aquarium shop, specialist  told me tank is perfect size for amount of fish i have now (but no more), most websites are telling me the same.

Minimum Tank Volume: 180 litres

Please don't call pet shop employees "specialists", they're most of the time teenagers hired for giggles that don't give half a crap for the fish or any of the other animals in the shop.

Not to mention that most people that work in pet shops have no experience whatsoever with goldfish, it's a completely different deal to keep such big fish compared to your average tiny tetras and platies.. Wink
