Morning all,
I just wanted to give a quick update and confess to my screw-up. When I received my bigger tank I was SO excited that I didn't think about where I was going to put it, I just wanted it up. I had my 12 gallon on a fairly tall cabinet, and for the smaller tank it worked fine. After filling the new 29 gallon tank up, and days later, after doing a lot of research on this site as well as other sites, it dawned on me, I should have gotten the correct size stand before filling the 29 gal. up. Lesson number #1 learned-always do your research first and get the proper equipment

I searched and finally found a stand that is the correct size and shorter (In order for me to do anything in my 29 gal. I had to stand on a step stool) so this past weekend purchased a new trash can to put most of the water from the aquarium in, removed the dying plants, vacumed the gravel, moved it to the new stand and refilled it with the water from the trash can and some new conditioned water. I worried if this would slow down or screw up my cycling, but checked levels today and this is what we have: PH 8.0, Ammonia 0.25, Nitrite 5.0 and Nitrate 5.0-10.00. It looks like things are still ok, the ammonia has dropped a little from the last check, my Nitrite has peaked, and Nitrates are moving up slowly. Last Friday marked week 3 of cycling and I've ordered some more plants on line which should be here Wed. and those will be added. Hopefully things will continue to go well and in the next couple of weeks my fish can be added. Has anyone ordered plants from LiveAquaria.com (Drs. Foster/Smith)? We are very limited in our area for pet supplies and have to drive over an hour to the bigger city, and even then, the plant selected was not very good the last time I went shopping. Will end here, but wishing everyone a great week. Thanks for listening and remember-do your homework first!
