Yes, a pH test shouldn't be hard to find (: If you don't know what they look like, you could just ask! Usually it says on the pack what the test is for (:
They usually sell some kits which contain tests for the most important parameters, might be good to get since nitrite, nitrate and ammonia might be good to keep an eye on as well. Especially while treating disease!
I honestly don't know how your fish would recover from this, as I haven't actually seen this condition, only read about it. But I guess you can just treat him and wait for progress for now (:
