HURRAY FOR THE 15 GALLON! This makes me so proud, Minde! I'm so happy for you Smiley I mean, I remember you had a spell with fish babies before, but this is remarkable, now that you know what you're doing. I think it won't be long before you are trying to house the adult versions!  Shocked

Thanks everyone for your well wishes!
I just tried something new and wanted to make note of it.
I decided to try an Omega One Veggie Round in the babies tank!
It's a huge hit and they have something to pick at for a few hours!! Smiley

They look great in the tank, bet once you moved them you realised how small they are Smiley Did you move all of them in the end?? My tank still has no nitrates showing up, I don't know what to think of it so I'm scared to move Clementine so it'd be great if you let me know what happens with your tank Smiley

Minde, fishergarten Karma for you. Grin
They really look so sweet in their new home and I really can imagine their size, like Neon Tetras, so cute.
How did they behave after transfer? Did they race around to explore?

And new food again to taste, lol,
Thank you so much again for sharing this unique journey with us Cheesy
CONGRATULATIONS !!!

DAY 32

The babies are enjoying being in the bigger digs! Wink
They are constantly swimming around and picking at everything.
I have a holey rock cave in their tank and it is becoming algae covered, plus little bits of food probably fall down the holes and they pick and pick at it.  They explore their whole world.  They even pick at the filters!!
They are maintaining their swimming just fine against the current of the two filters.
I will test their water later today and see if I have any spikes in nitrites.
this is what i'm most scared of, is some spikes due to the extra feedings they get throughout the day.
Hoping my homemade filter media can handle it.
Instead of the regular cartridges for the filter I am using smaller ones with floss behind that and then underneath small bio-balls.  I'm hoping this wil be better able to handle the waste load of the extra feedings.
So far it worked well with the small comets in there.  I'll keep you updated. Smiley
Pictures to follow later!

DAY 33

Got up this am at 4:30 am and tested the babies water and fed them daphnia which they do not like as well as the baby brine shrimp that's for sure.  They ate it begrudgingly with a look of "not this shXt again" as they chewed.  Smiley
So the water tests were perfect again but I decided to do a water change and try out the hand syphon which to the babies, I'm sure looked like a turkey baster on steroids!!! Cheesy  "Run for your life!" All the babies said, as they swam out of the way!! LOL!  I know some people use a sponge but I don't have a sponge that fits over the nozzle, so had to wing it.  No babies were hurt in the water changing proces, I'm happy to report!!
I am going to have to do a water change every single day!  Those babies are messy little things! Wink

Bwahahahahaha ... turkey baster on steroids... nappies were ere they, lol.

I love those pics, and the babies are so sweet, bit bigger than Neons now? And all details so well to see now.

Did you try to soak the foods they don't like that much in "Garlic Guard" ?

well, no because 1) I don't have garlic guard and 2) the daphnia is the size of a pin prick...water fleas just don't grow too big! LOL!
But I did order some growth food at kensfish.com and it was a big hit!!! Wink  Fed some this afternoon! Smiley

DAY 34

Wow! Time flies!!! Smiley
Babies grow!
What is so facinating to me is the fact, that as soon as I put them in this 15 gallon tank with natural rock pebbles, the babies became a more silvery grey color.  It's like they are wearing a different color to hide themselves better in their surroundings.  I find this very interesting.
I got growth food from Kensfish.com
It's awesome...so fresh and vacuumed packed.
The babies love it! Smiley

I'm noticing that too, I'm sure once the little guys get older they will start to show off more colour than the silvery gold that i see XD

That's amazing Minde with the colour change, I wonder if all goldfish do this to an extent no matter their age? Growth food sounds like a great idea Smiley

DAY 35

Hello, fellow baby goldfish fans!
I sadly have to report the loss overnite of the 2 littiest runts.
I seriously think they got eaten by their peers as they just disappeared!
I tore about the filter looking for their bodies any sign of them, but they are just gone....swallowed whole. Undecided
They just weren't growing as fast as their brothers and sisters some were 3X's their size.
It is the law of nature, survival of the fittest.
So now we are 7.
There are 4 big hearty babies.  The rest are mediocre.  Their growing speed is slightly less.
I am feeding them all live frozen foods every other meal, either frozen daphnia or baby brine shrimp and then various growth foods.  I am also introducing to them anything their parents are eating.
For example I tried the freeze dried blood worms this am but that wasn't a huge hit.  I crushed the blood worms up.  This afternoon I will try crushed up krill and see if they will eat that.
The water parameter continue to be perfect, altho I do a water change of about 25% every day.
We will carry on the best we can. Smiley

I'm sorry to hear about the two little guys leaving the material plane, though it's true its all about survival, laws of nature etc etc. Still, hugs and karma comming your way, as you are still doing an amazing job caring for them Smiley Good luck Cheesy

Cry Sorry for the loss of them 2 little ones, but as you and Kat already said, it is the laws of nature....

Keep going girl, you do a marvelous job. Keeping fingers crossed for the rest of the gang to grow up to be big and healthy.
