Aw I'm also sorry to hear about the little ones, but if they were such runts maybe they would have never survived Sad It's pretty gruesome thinking about the bigger brothers and sisters eating the littler ones  Undecided But also nature as it is  Cheesy

I bet they'll be eating whole blood worms and frozen peas in no time  Wink

DAY 36

Ok, so we have 7 babies still with us! Smiley
I would have to say that the biggest baby is about 3/4 of an inch from nose to tail.
Then there are a couple that are 1/2 inch.  And then a couple a bit smaller than that.
Hopefully they will continue to grow.
I got up at 4 am to feed them as my husband said, maybe the 2 runts got eaten because I'm not feeding enough.
Well, who knows but I got up at 4 am and they were all sleeping.  LOL!  Scared the poo out of them and after they got over their shock I fed them baby brine shrimp.
I fed them a couple of shrimp pellets last night and they were a big hit.
So was the krill smushed up yesterday!
Today they are going to try earthworm sticks smushed up! LOL! YUM!
Ken at Kensfish.com sent a sample bag of them.
I will give all the fish a treat of these later today.

they're definitely growing at a fabulous pace! Cheesy I look back at the Day 1 pictures and smile. they've all come a long long way. And so have you Minde. You've been a shining beacon taking care of the little guys

DAY 37

So that makes us 5 weeks old!  Amazing!
All 7 babies are still swimming strong! Smiley
To me their body shape is of their parents....commons and comets.
Their color is the drap wild carp color, olive greenish grey.
I do not think we will see color change for a while yet.
Probably not until they are a few months old anyway. Smiley

DAY 38

HERE WE ARE AT 5 WEEKS AND 1 DAY OLD!! Smiley
The babies are doing great and all 7 are still survivng.
Some days they just seem hungry all the time.
Yesterday was one of those days and then when I fed them this am, they looked like just through the night they grew a bit again!
They are all over the tank now searching for food constantly like adult goldfish do.  They pick at everything and dig under the gravel as far as they can for that forgotten piece of food.
I can't wait for them to get their color.  I have a feeling they all will be solid orange!

IT IS GETTING HARDER TO GET GOOD PICTURES OF THE BABIES.  THEY DO NOT LIKE THE FLASH OF THE CAMERA AND SCATTER WHEN I USE IT. Grin
Little stinkers!   They have grown again!!  They are fatter and hungry today.  Searching, searching for food! Smiley

Lost another runt during the night.
Probaby eaten.  I have one more that isn't growing real well either. Sad
I have 4 big hearty babies and one med sized and one more runt that just isn't growing like it's siblings.
I'm anticipating losing this one too. Undecided
