DAY 47

Hello, patient people! LOL! Smiley
Sorry but I was not up to par the last few days.
So here we are on day 47...gosh had to count what day it was!! Wink
So now we have 5 babies...the runt was lunch. Sad
The babies have grown so much in the last few days.
Still waiting on color or signs of it...it's still a mystery what they will end up as! Smiley
I'm strongly thinking of moving them to a bigger tank.
I'm thinking maybe either the 20 gallon or the 29 gallon.
I'm cleaning out the 29 gallon of tropicals and putting them in the 90 gallon tank.
YAY! I finally got that cycled and running perfect.  I've been adding a couple of fish every day so as not to overload the bio-load too quickly! Smiley

Everything is fine and it is DAY 50!!!
WOW! I can't believe we reached DAY 50!!!
Where did the time go when these babies were just little tiny, almost microscopic, straight pins with two eyes!
They are so facinating to watch, as they use to just spend all their energy searching and finding food big enough to fit in their mouths, now they explore their small world and are aware of each other.  They have started to chase and play, tell each other when food arrives through some silent language only they can hear.
They nibble at the plants.  I have some water sprite and hornwart just floating in the tank.
They are so very cute to watch and I imagine what they will look like as adults.
Here are pictures of some of my adults, where these babies came from...which two?  Your guess as good as mine!
Also, here are some updated pictures for DAY 50!

It truely is amazing, soon they will be 2 months old, little teenies soon, not babies anymore.
I think the small goldies one can buy at the LFS are about 3 month old.

The baby in the first photo that is in front of the filter, looking at us side on well I reckon he/she looks like the really red orangey fish in the adult photo, the one next to the orange and white one. They have the same mouth/facial expression  Cheesy

Your babies are adorable!  They are growing so fast and look very healthy indeed.  I could only imagine how great it feels to have raised those little babies from microscopic size. WOW!

DAY 51

I decided to move the babies to "The Beach".
They will live here until this spring when they are big enough to go out in the pond with the rest of the pond fish.
You know, Bel, and everyone else that these babies are from 10 cent feeder goldfish.  Some of my "feeder" goldfish are 12 years old and just gorgeous.  I hope these babies will live as long and happy of a life the rest of my feeders have had.

Minde, Congrats, yes, I know their parents were "feeder" fish and all of them are just gorgeous and they have gorgeous children now.
How did they behave when you moved them to "The Beach"?

DAY 52

The babies are loving living at "The Beach" Smiley
They have a whole new big world to explore and play in!
They are exploring every inch of their new world. Wink
They are hungry, hungry all the time.
I still am feeding them 4-5X's a day.
They're no longer on a set feeding schedule although I try and vary their diet.
What ever I feed my adult fishes the babies get and then a pinch of suppimental growth food thrown in a couple of feedings. Cheesy

ok this is my first thread i read here 1st congrats on the nice fishies 2 when i usally get fish i warm the water to the temp its supposed to be in and then put the fish in so i have no ideal what cycleing is could someone please tell me what it does

Had to count since I haven't posted in a while! Smiley
Well we still have 5 babies with us but they seem to have a bit of a fungus.
I am doing a major water change today and going back to treating their water with Start Right crystals by Jungle.
It contains salt and methylene blue in it, which I've read to use with fry to prevent fungus and fin rot.  Babies are suseptable to it.
I also started feeding twice a day ColorFin sinking granules by Tetra!
They love it and I'm hoping it will help bring out their color sooner! Wink

They look so healthy , I cannot make out any fungus, this means you discovered it early enough and sure you will get them through, you are a genius, Minde. If someone can fix it it is you.

Very good of you to catch this quick and you know these babies in such detail so wishing you the very best with the start right crystals. I would like to have this product on hand but have only seen the liquid version so far. Sounds like a good one to have around just in case.
