DAY 11Well here we are on DAY 11. The babies are swimming stronger now...still 9 swimming. One is still so very tiny and undeveloped...I don't know.. Accidently sucked him up with the turkey baster this am...sheesh! He just looked at me in the bucket I put the syphoned water in and I swear he was cursing me out and saying wtf? LOL! Poor little guy went for a swirly ride..... So now he joined his friends and ate the liquid fry with them. He looks like he may be on rotifers and liquid fry the rest of his life! I upped the control on the bubbler a bit since most of the babies look like they could swim in a bit bigger current now. They eat at all levels of the water I notice and sometimes come over to the bubble wand to ride the bubbles. They swm more like little fish now instead of that jerky motion they made before. I swear I can start to see a dorsal fin developing now. I'll post pix a bit later.

DAY 12Wow! What can I say but that it is almost 2 weeks since I found those tiny shreds of glass. Every day I see a miracle of life unfold right before my very eyes. Yesterday I took pictures of the babies at around 11 am and last night at their last feeding, a little more than 12 hours later, I saw more growth and development. Thank you for letting me share this wonderful, and educational, and amazing experience with you! They are of course a bit bigger in size and I notice that in the am I don't have as much coarser food to clean out from their feeding the night before. The brine shrimp are all eaten up quickly, now. I love watching them chase the tiny pieces around as the bubbler softly swirls the food all over their container. With the babies eating more there is alot less clean up, so I now only do a complete water change every other day. I will post Day 12 pictures later!

Look at the little buggers! Soooo cute, and they sound like they're just full of energy! I haven't been looking for baby goldfish, I don't think Tiger is the boy I wanted XD and the most I've seen out of my two fishes is playfighting at best. They chase each other around the tank and push one another into the ground... sooo funny watching those two. I don't think it's bullying either, as no one is getting hurt, there's no fin nipping, and it lasts for a few seconds. XD But really, Minde, you've done an amazing job taking care of these little miracles. It's truly fascinating, watching these little guys grow! I really think that they're on a good road to survival, and I want them to grow as fast as possible! I'm getting impatient! lol!! I love how you never fail to post pictures every day, and give a little info on how they're feeding and what they're doing. Have they developed personalities yet? or are they too young to tell? No matter, they will be beautiful fish when all's sad and done, I'm just having problems WAITING. I suppose all good things take time. I'm glad you're taking care of these little guys, Minde. You're doing phenomenally. Just remember to eat, girl! XD and sleep! goodness me, it sounds like you have your hands full with ACTUAL children lol I know it's common for fish to eat fresh vegitables and the like. Perhaps it's not a good idea for little fish fry, but at the same time, I have to ask when you may start such feeding behaviour. Probably not till they're older. XD poor little things, they're just tryin to grow up I wish I had a bigger tank, and more time to actually look for small fish babies. I think, from what you have so far, Minde, that caring for these little guys is a lot of work, but very rewarding in the end Wow, I think that's the most I've posted at once XDXD

Ah, Kat, You know I was curious as to how my babies were developing. You know, are they average, ahead, behind etc., so I went and found some other fry and looked at those. On one my babies looked like their month old babies, so they looked ahead. And on another two week old mine looked the same...so I guess how big they are right now is pretty normal for their age. The other thing is I feed them spirulina powder once a day. So that is a very good vegetable source for baby fish. If they were in the regular tank they would probably dine on algae, but I have 6-8 inch goldfish in there so the babies certainly would become their snack. The only thing they can fit in their mouth right now is fine powdered foods and the baby brine shrimp which are almost microscopic. The "play fighting" you see between your two fish might be spawning behavior. All I can say is if you ever find tiny fry and decide you want to hand raise them, then be prepared for an extreme test of patience!

DAY 13WOOHOO! We are almost 2 weeks old! I can't believe how easy it is to do head count now. I believe by the time these babies are 1 month old that they will be able to go into a regular tank, with a regular filter system. I have this instinct now that has taken over. I can "feel" when they need more to eat and more often. They got 9 feedings yesterday and were so hungry each time...mother nature tells me that a growing spurt is on the way. They fatten up a little and then grow leaner and longer, so storing up fat for the growing spurt. They are darker in color now, not so transparent so that is why the head count is so much easier to do. I have that one baby tho that is still lagging behind and concerns me. Not sure if he has something physically or internally wrong with him. I guess time will tell. Pictures to follow later!
