dying fish

My 4yo sons golf fish died.  This is the third fish we have had in about 1.5 weeks.  I have no idea why this is happening.  Each time we have followed the directions as to transfering the fish to the main tank.  The water is about 65-70 degrees.  Within about a day or so the fish die.  I have well water.  I am not sure of the ph or the overall health of the water.  Each time the fish has had a milky white substance on its body.  Please help me my son is quite devastated and I would love to have some fish for him.  Thank you.[

It could be a problem with your well water. Do you run your water through a filter (the kind that is used to clean water for people to drink)?  If so, then try using the filtered water with the fish. Some pet stores such as Petco sell aquarium water in a bottle also. You can also use bottled water that you can purchase at a regular grocery store. The bottled water is the safest since you know there are no contaminants in it whereas the well water is a question mark unless you have the water tested.

thanks Dan.  I will look into that.  We do have a filter on it, However I remember I had some work done on the pump and the tech said we had hi iron in our water which could also mean we have a low pH.  I will try the bottled water route.  Thanks again.

Goldfish can get milky skin due to low pH, so that might be the case, as well as the well water. Get yourself a test kit or something and see to make sure Smiley
