Eggs again
« on: October 02, 2011, 04:57:47 PM »

Hi all,

I know i posted on here about being new to breeding, but the last set of eggs that my blackmoors laid didn't hatch at all.  Which got me thinking, are all 3 of them girls?

But now, 2 of them are really getting round and the smaller one is chasing them about, but is not showing any of the white spots on it's fins.  I'm just a little confused as to whether i have 2 girls and 1 boy or 3 girls.  If i have 3 girls, why is 1 of them chasing the other 2 and why are they spawning?

Any help would be great thanks

It's pretty normal for both ladies and boys to do the chasing behavior during the breeding season Smiley
It really doesn't matter if there's a boy there or not, the goldfish girls will lay eggs anyway when they're ready. There was this case on the forum before where one had a goldfish boy and he spread the milt allover the gravel without there being any eggs or females around Smiley

But it might also be that the one chasing is a boy that's simply not mature yet, it's pretty hard to know if you can't see any breeding tubercles on the gill covers.
