I have adult Zebra Danio's in with my Fantail F.B. Toffee44 and she is 7 and half inches long, she could easily suck in a danio and swallow it but she doesn't seem interested... I also have them in with my ryukins and they all seem to get along ok... even when they steal the food practically out of the ryukins mouths (something like Homer Simpson trying to eat his packet of crisps and those little dogs keep stealing them)... I suppose if they were not fed for a while the danio's may look a bit more delectable... cheers

Bettas are carnivores, and tend to be pretty cranky so they might actually harass/eat the snails. But you could always try if you'd like

Pretty sure they do, I've kept Zebra Danios myself, don't remember if I had the little red snails at the same time, but these were all very nice and friendly little fish Really beautiful colors too!

I think you should have a filter in the tank, if not for the snails to feel good (which they definitely would!), then for the fact that it's a lot easier keeping the tank clean with a filter

They lay their eggs above the water....so catch the babies and put them in a large tupperware container. You should be able to raise them in there until they are big enough to escape your vacuuming

These snails breed like mad, so honestly, I wouldn't be very bothered in case I'd vacuum up a few eggs.
It doesn't need to be very complicated, and what would you do when they'd overpopulate the tank and eat everything you hold dear? Vacuuming a few of them away would only be a good way to keep them somehow controlled (even if that won't help for long).

I have no problem with apple snails in my tank..they don't eat healthy plants, they prefer to mop up any left-overs they can find..it's easy to remove eggs if they breed too much....but they don't breed as much at goldfish temperature...they tend to work the night-shift

Perhaps just keep them where they are for now then.... Also apart from eating plants and over populating, is there anything else bad that snails do to tanks?

Oh wow, thanks Scrivens, not sure how an assassin snail will do in a gravel tank, as it advises sandy substrate... but will keep that option in mind! When it says to keep them in groups, could I have say only 2 or 3 in that case?

It would be quite interesting to have a prey/predator relationship, it would save me having to deal with endless egg sacs and I'm sure in the bigger tank, I'd miss a lot of the Bladder snail ones XD

I don't mind too much, having the bladder snails on their own, I just don't understand why their hated so much? All I've gathered they do is occasionally eat plants and multiply like crazy?

It's why I was thinking of having a snails tank with silk plants! I find the bladder snails to be quite beautiful.
The shells on my adult snails are simply gorgeous, I wish I had a decent enough camera to show you! Not to mention the baby ones are just adorable!
They are quite interesting to watch, the adult ones, when they need oxygen, don't climb the side of the tub to the surface, they actually glide very gracefully to the top and then glide back down. Not to mention they are so small, they glide under the waters surface!

And interestingly enough, I've had clippings of Cabomba floating in the tub with them (the plant they arrived on) and all they use it for is climbing on and laying eggs, it's still intact, which is why I question people saying they eat everything?
Mind you, I keep mine well fed on vegetables (I'll put left overs from whatever Lucky's having for dinner that day in like a pea, courgette, brocolli and it will be completely eaten in a few days!) and crushed flakes, so I imagine they have no need to eat the plant! Eggs aren't very noticeable... although I do destroy any eggs I find when I do their complete water change once a week.

Perhaps I'll go back to my snail tank idea then... I don't think live plants would be able to compete with Lucky and hungry snails as it would be difficult to feed them with Lucky around XD

Ah fair enough! I think you may be right about the plants Noss, I think I'll keep the snails in a tub, until I can sort out the little tank for them properly.

I've not noticed a lot of mess being caused by their 'slime' though? In all honesty the most mess in that tub is the poo!

They seem to be doing well in the tub, considering that the Bladder Snail can survive in stagnant and slow moving water, not to mention I assume the conditions are good, otherwise they wouldn't be laying eggs every week XD

Then later I will try and get some Apple or Ramshorns snails to live with them, ya know? Some larger aquatic snails.

I think with the different sized snails and some silk plants... a little filter, maybe some driftwood, a little air bubbler.... oh and some big rocks to cover the base of the silk plants... I think I'll avoid gravel simply so it well be less massacre on the babies!
Silk plants, filter and driftwood can be cleaned weekly, to minimise egg amounts....

Haha this is some ways off though XD But one day.... In my mind it looks quite nice at least
