Wow...not good.  Well, you know the drill on these boards:
1. Check the water quality
2. Any marks or growths?
3. Is she eating?
4. It might be constipation...have you fed peas?
5. Is she otherwise moving?
Let us know ASAP!

Exactly what Nicole and stuff that you have been told multiple times before. Have you been listening to the advice I saw Mindemae give you? Testing your water, treating with melafix, adding salt, etc.

I hope your fish gets better but it won't if you aren't helping it.

Is she breathing?Huh
As we all here mentioned when you first started to post, did you follow our advice, like checking the waterchenistry, change water regularly, not overfeeding. Do you provide enough oxygen? Do you have a good filtration going?

You MUST help her asap!!!

Yep, give us more details about the fish. Tell us how she's acting and if you see anything on her.

And... for emphasis... TEST THE WATER!!!!!!!!

Your fish had a few strikes against it being able to survive; like being a fair fish and living in a small bowl.
Some people have good luck winning a fish and it lives a long time but most fish from that environment don't survive the polluted conditions and genetics it is given to begin with.
I'm sorry about your fish, maybe when you're ready you can pick out a new fish, a healthier one from a reputable shop. Smiley

Wait - she's still alive, her gills are still working and she's breathing but she's floating on the top  Tongue  Is there anything that can fix this or not?  I'm going to the store today so I can buy anything I don't have, I'll test the water and buy melafix.

What is melafix?
Should I add salt?  If I do is it a special salt?  Thanks for any help - Wanda probably doesn't have much time left, I'm trying my best to help!

I have tested the water for ammonia and I got 0.50 ppm - Is this good or bad?  Should I treat the water?  also should I test for anything else?  The test kit I have can test for: pH, High range pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate

Ammonia and nitrites should read zero.
Your fish has been poisoned by high ammonia levels. Cry

Ok, I treated for ammonia and tested everything, everything else is good.  I also treated with Melafix - I'm going to test again for ammonia in 40 min.

What do you mean you treated for ammonia?  How did you treat for ammonia exactly?
If you used an ammonia blocker then any test for ammonia you do will still show ammonia.
Aquarium salt will help gill function and also provide electrolyes.

There are these drops you can put in the gets rid of ammonia and it says on the bottle "retest in two hours and repeat dosage if necessary"  doesn't that mean the ammonia will no longer show up on the testing, so it doesn't just turn it in into non-toxic ammonia?

You can treat ammonia then not have it come up in the test again.

One of the ammonia blockers I have used in the past said that it may give a false reading when re-testing the water,  show ammonia when it has actually been neutralized.

I agree with Mindemae, I do have those drops too. Converting the toxic ammonia into an non toxic form doesn't mean that ammonia is removed. It is still there and will show up in your test.

Is she eating? Swimming around? Huh
Go ahead and feed her some peas if she will eat them.  If she doesn't then remove them as they will just pollute the water.  I seriously think constipation is the least of her problems. Sad

My condolences. Sad  I'm sure you tried your best to help her.
Next time, be sure to wait for your tank to cycle and check the water regularly (about once a week, more if the fish is behaving oddly, even just a little).  Many pet stores will test your water for free if you bring a sample in.  I do hope that you find another fishy friend, because goldfish are such wonderful pets.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, I truly am.

Think of it as a learning experience! Now you know better how to take care of fish. ****, Tiger and Sonorus..I think Tiger is the eighth fish Ive went through...

Anyway, once you get a ten gallon cycled and what not, go to a petstore, get your meds, get your water conditioner, get everything. Take it slow and plan. Next time, things will be better. Hope to see you online again soon

Well, at least your fish isn't suffering anymore. Sad
It is so very sad to watch a fish die and not be able to do anything for it. Cry
Hopefully, when and if you decide to get another fish you will know how to take care of it better.
I think it was too late for your fish to have survived anyway. Undecided
Once they get sick it is much harder to get them better than it is to prevent them from becoming sick in the first place. Smiley

Wandafish, it is so sad... sorry for your loss.  Sad

It would be lovely if you decide to get another fish, but before that please make sure that your tank is cycled and the water chemistry is all right for your fish.
And get your little friend from a reputable pet store. Not from the first one though, visit more pet shops, have a close look at their tanks. If you see too many tanks with green-blue water, fish are treated for some sort of desease. I'd buy my fish somewhere else then. Also have a close look how clean the tanks are and how the fish behave. Are they quiet or are some lethargig floating ones in there? Are dead fish in the tanks? (I've seen this lately at 2 pet stores) Again, at places like this, I'd never buy my fish. Also ask those people questions. Do they know what they are talking about, etc.

Best thing to do now, get yourself a book about goldfish, there are also many many sites on the net for it. Read up what you can. Get your tank ready. And then go arround for your new little friend.

Hope to see you soon on this forum,

Take Care  Smiley
