Yes, I did, they had some, sold in pairs only for $ 100.--  Shocked  Roll Eyes  Shocked

Octavius was "only" $ 25.-- Cheesy

The bowl incl. stand we bought at Rocklea Market for $ 3.-- before we got to Fishchick.

Maybe he was of certain quality Smiley Pet shop fish are usually (at least when it comes to goldfish) culls from the "perfect" specimens used for breeding and shows! So it could be that this guy has either been bred by a private breeder, OR he may be of a better quality than those in the pet shops Smiley

Andrea, yes, Nossie this is right. Octavius is one of them rare strains. The shop we bought him from is specialized in those. The lady there won quite a few awards in having those rare bettas... and Octavius was one of the less expensive ones, because I just couldn't afford to pay $ 100,--  Shocked
It was hard to choose one because they ALL were so beautiful but then again we decided to get the one who was the most intersted in US, lol.

BTW, ther was a couple in front of us, they bought at least 6 bettas from there... Roll Eyes

Fishchick is known as THE fish boutique arround here with rare species and rare plants too

If the fins of your betta looks the same like Octavius it isn'y fin rot. This is the way their fins ARE Wink

Both me and Nossie have told that your betta is most likely a crown tail before. I hope you have worked out whether it is fin rot or a crown tail, so you are treating wrongly. I'm pretty sure it is a crown tail by the photo you posted  Wink
