i have a five gallon tank and am planning on purchasing 2 goldfish from a great aquatic garden store where i've seen lots of healthy fish.i'm planning on getting a "bubbler" or whatever they're called, and soon some neat "fish toys" like fake coral,grass hidey places. is what i've got substantial for at most a week? aka:(1 5 gallon tank, fish food)

You really do need a much bigger tank as Novaguin said. A goldfish due to the amount of waste they produce and oxygen they need, needs minimum 10 gallons per goldfish!

So unfortunately your tank wouldn't even be big enough for one goldfish. I had been keeping one goldfish in a 6 gallon tank for about year and I had alot of problems. She is now in a 23 gallon tank and much, much happier and healthier

So see if you can get a bigger tank or don't get goldfish! If you do get a bigger tank look into getting some real plants, make sure it has a good filter, make sure you get some water conditioner and beneficical bacteria. Also cycle your tank before you put the goldfish in. Look up the nitrogen cycle or tank cycle in google and it will all be explained.

I completely agree with Andrea, Nossie and Novaguin. 5 gal tank is faaaaaaaaaaaaaar tooooooooooooo smalllllllllllll.
Just to give you an idea about how quick they grow: we bought our first goldfish ( Comets )in March this year, they were about 7 cm including tail fin. Now they are about 18 cm including tail fin. So more than doubble their size in a bit more than 1/2 year.     

Apart from this it is muuuuuch easier to maintain a big tank than a small one.

Another advice: before you get any fish, please make yourself familiar with the Nitrogen Cycle and how to set up a tank anyway. But you may already know.
