Could any one please help me to understand that what happened to my goldfish? Is it a bacterial or fungal infection and what is the treatment ? It has happened to three fishes.

Can I add some without iodine salt in my tank ? I've a for feet tank with some gold fishes. How many teaspoonful for my aquarium ?

For the question concerning salt.
You just add one teaspoon of table salt (not iodized) for each gallon of
water to the hospital tank that houses your sick fish. Add the same amount of
salt again that night and twice the next day, also in the morning and at night. If
there is no improvement by the third or fourth day, add one more teaspoon of
salt each day. On the ninth and tenth days, make partial water changes and
check for results.

Are those white spots in that one particular area of the fish or all over its body. What about the other goldfish? Is it the same as the goldfish in the front.

I would try the salt treatment first to see if there is any improvement. As long the fish continue to eat, then there shouldn't be any problem to worry about. The salt will help inhibit further infection and add electrolytes for the sick fish.

Dear Pepper,

Thank you for your reply. It is not all over the body. In all effected fishes it is in different places but in a single area.

It seems like something in the water of your current aquarium is infecting and spreading to all these other fish.

Try the salt treatment and see if it will cure all the goldfish. After the fish are all healed, i would disinfect your current aquarium tank and clean everything to make sure it doesn't come back.

NO! DO NOT PUT SAND IN THE AQUARIUM!
goldfish poke around in the substrate (bottom) of the aquarium and bite at everything. gravel is ok because they can't EAT large rocks. they CAN eat sand and that is why you never ever EVER put sand at the bottom of a goldfish tank.
They eat the sand, it sometimes gets stuck in their intestines, and then your goldfish feels terrible and develops more problems.
no sand in your aquarium. added to that, its a pain to clean.

Also, for your issue (if it still is, i know this is late) Melafix fixes Fin rot wonderfully. i have four tanks all with goldfish in them. the antibiotic has saved the lives of more than a few of my fish
