Ranchu eyes

I've been looking around dreaming about my next fish. I want a ranchu, but I keep running across some that have two different eyes, one is normal looking and the other looks black. Is this normal? Is the fish blind?[image]

Don't worry it probably not blind. Sometimes they are caused by genetics when you get the fish if it is eating and swimming okay than it's fine.

It's perfectly fine Smiley On this kind of color the fish usually have different colored eyes! Both my calico fantails have pretty funny eyes Smiley
One has a completely black eye, and the second one has blue eyes, but one of the pupils look enlarged due to the black pigment in the center Wink Both are perfectly healthy and have no problem avoiding obstacles Smiley

It's genetics, I think. He looks quite healthy to me. My mom has a friend with 2 different colored eyes (green and blue, I believe, haven't seen her for a long time), and she's not blind.  Wink
Matte scaled fish have eyes like that too, but it's hard to tell in that photo.

Actually, it's not genetics, unless you mean genetics leading to the final color of the fish fry.
It's very common that matte, naucreous and calico fish have a black eye, or even both eyes black. This fish here, is a matte sakura colored ranchu, with only a few metallic scales Smiley

In show terms, a black eye is an error, but only for aesthetic reasons.
