New goldfish but plants stressing them out?

ok so I just started out with 4 fancy goldfish. They were doing just fine until day 3 I received the silk type aquarium plants in the mail. I rinsed them in warm water several times, then gently decorated the tank as to not stress out the fish. But then, the rest of the day, my poor fish seemed listless, kinda stressed out and up in the corner away from the plants the whole day and night! They seem to be avoiding the plants and no longer exploring the tank! What's happening? Anyone know? I worked in a tropical fish store all through out my college years so I feel like I know what I'm doing and I never have any problems keeping tropical fish varieties but every time I want to have a tank with fancy goldfish they never survive! Help! My 5 year old loves these guys I really love them too!

I to have recently introduced new plants into my tank and my fish also stuck to the other side of the tank avoiding the plants. I was worried to but after a few days they started to swim around the plants and not avoid. I don't think you have anything to worry about. If the situation gets worse i would suggest removing the plants to see if it helps.

How big is the tank?
Just because you kept tropicals before doesn't mean you have the slightest idea about how to keep goldfish
They need much more space, maintenance and different types of food to stay healthy.
