will a tea coloured pond be harmful for goldfish?

I have a small pond. Around the edges I have logs and decaying bark. It’s made the water a "tea" colour. Will this type of water be harmful to goldfish?

Most likely not, but if there's a lot of rotting debris you will want to remove that when cleaning the pond during springs or else the nitrates will hit the roof Smiley

Not only that but it may lower your ph considerbly. Lots of rotting bark, leaves, debris can lower your ph considerably.
I'd watch for signs of acidosis which can make your goldfish very sick.  Goldfish prefer a more alkaline, higher ph so please test you water regularly and clean out any rotting debris as needed.

when it comes to wood, my rule-of-thumb is:- If it rots bin in

the Tea colour is the tannins leaching from the wood...dependant on the type of wood a lot of other stuff can leach out such as salicylic acid from Willow

Also... when you say 'small' pond, do you know it's actual size? Smiley

If you are going to add live stock, then it needs to be a good size and does the pond have filtration? And is it deep enough for over-wintering fish?
