Thunder storms?
« on: June 27, 2012, 07:58:13 PM »

Has anybody on here ever lost a fish during a thunder storm? I have lost two before now but they were new in the tank. I bought them, put them in the tank and a couple of nights later there was a storm and they died (this happened on two occasions). I am just so worried as I know a storm can change the pressure in a tank, I had never had anything like that happen before but I am wondering if it is a common occurrence or not. I am mainly worried about my fry. I don't want anything to happen to them and there is going to be a storm later today.
If this is something that is likely to happen is there anything I can do to stop it?

Naaah, I highly doubt your fish will be affected by the storm except if you have to unplug the filters or something. The fish in my community tank have lived through many storms that killed heaters and filters over the years, with fry who did great as well Smiley

Thank you. I was just worried about the change in pressure that storms cause and I know it can affect fish tanks. I checked on them earlier and they were all fine. Thanks anyway. I was really panicking about it!
