Which filter?

We're getting a new filter for our tank and there are two problems.
One is that we want a canister filter but we have a hinge lid tank. Will we have to cut the tank lid to fit it?
The other option would be a U4 Fluval internal filter. 1000lph on our 125 litre tank in conjunction with the UGF
we already have. Would this be strong enough? Or a waste of money?

I'd chuck the UGF, the Fluval should be OK
I'm going to be using one on my 200 supplemented my an "aged" fan filter

Hmmm a hinged lid? So there's no way of taking the lid off entirely?
I think the Fluval internal filter will be fine, if you can't fit an external, the tank will be slightly under filtered, but as long as you keep an eye on the water quality it should be okay.

We've bought the U4 and are keeping the under gravel so we'll have double filtration which is a lot better than before

You don't need to do much else with the lid except cutting off some corners for the filter tubing
