Hello
« on: September 02, 2008, 07:49:49 PM »

Hello, Fish Lovers! I also love fish! I have a Common Goldfish, Two Fantails, a Moor, an Oranda, and a Tetra. I used to have a betta. He died...sniff,sniff...

P.S. Is it safe to crossbreed one of my goldfish with my friend's betta, or will my friend's betta
       just kill my goldfish?

Goldfish and bettas are different species just like cats and dogs are different , so they will not be able to crossbreed.   Also goldfish are cold water fish whereas bettas (including tetras) are tropical fish and they should not be mixed together.   Tropical fish species require temperature in the range of 70 - 80F range while goldfish prefer water temperatures in the 65 -72F range.  Goldfish can survive in near freezing temperature such as outside in a pond during the winter. Tropical fish such as bettas would die instantly in such  an environment.
