My fish is sick

My fish is sick and just lying on the bottom of his plastic bowl.
My mom wants me to flush him but I dn't want to unless he is dead.
How do you tell if a fish is dead?

Is the fish moving it's mouth? Maybe he is just sick or stressed.

apart from not moving does your fish have any other signs of not being well? as oranda said, could just be stressed

It won't let me put a picture on so I put my fish's picture under my name.
I don't think he is alive maybe anymore.
I don't see anything wrong with him.

My fish Spike is dead!
I feel so bad I can;t stop crying.
I had a funeral for him.
He was a good fish.
I buried him in a tiny box in the back yard.
My mom said maybe I can get a new fish this weekend.

Sorry to hear from your loss.
But before you get a new fish:
1.Do you know that goldfish should NOT be kept in a bowl?
2.They need at least 10 gallon per fish to be happy.
3.They need good filtration and aeration.
4.They need perfect water quality.
5.A partial waterchange has to be done EVERY week, about 15-20%
6.The water parameters MUST be checked on a regular basis. Those are Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and pH.
7. Before you put fresh water in, you should use a conditioner to remove chemicals from the tap water and you also should adjust the pH to about 7.2-7.6
If you do not provide all this, the fish will be stressed out. Stress leads to bacterial and fungal infections >>> abnormal behaviour >>> death. Sure you don't want this to happen again and have another poor fish suffering. Remember, they are living creatures and do feel joy, happiness or pain like we do.
If you cannot get a proper tank and equipment for a goldfish, you better get a Betta instead

Hanna: FINALLY someone reacted on the plastic bowl! O_O You should get some karma for that c:
But yes, FishRFun, the problem lies in the bowl, for sure. Your fish was suffocating and poisoning himself with his own wastes in there. So like Hanna says, you should absolutely NOT get any new goldfish until you have a proper home for it. Buy him at the very least a 10 gallon. If you'll have a 20 gallon you could give him a friend d: And get proper filtration, the pump has to have the capacity for a tank twice the size. So if you have a 10 gallon, you should buy a filter for a 20 or even 30 gallon tank.
That's it. If you can't afford this now, do like Hanna proposed and buy yourself a Siamese fighting fish d: They're pretty too, and all your have to do is change the water.
