my pearlscale goldfish has a big shiny scale did he lose a pearlscale ?

No, it's perfectly healthy, it's a part of the color. when it grows up, it'll be easier to see the domed shape of it.

Also, slightly unrelated, but what sized tank does your pearlscale have? Any companions? 
Just wanted to ask and check, as goldfish often end up in tanks that are too small.

is that a scale that grew to replace one that got knocked off? i feel like i read somewhere on here that replacement scales are larger and look different but hey i could be dreaming.. (:
