Im new!

hello! im new to this forum. i bought a 10  gallon fish and placed a black moor, a red cap o, and a ryukin fish in it. I recnetly bought a 27 gallon tank for only $25 it came with a filter, heater , air pump. ect. (= i got a steal of a deal.
But it seems as though my red cap is sick.
its fins and tail is fraying
and some of the scales are missing.

Is there anything i can do?

Wow...that tank seems kinda small.  First things first is to get your water tested.  The place where you bought your fish might do it for free.  If not, they have easy-to-use kits at home.  It sounds a little like fin rot, which, I believe, is treatable with an antibiotic.  If your old 10-gallon is still up, you can use that as a hospital tank.  I found out the hard way that if you use an antibiotic in your tank, you run a good chance of killing the good bacteria as well, and you'd have to cycle the tank all over again.

wow! thank you so  much! okay i am changing it on friday (tomorrow) and my 10 gallon will be my hospital tank. thank you really.

Yea im pretty sure meds kill good bacteria. its like if you take antibiotics for a urinary tract infection, all the good bacteria disappears and you have to eat yoghurt or something cause its full of bacteria.... but thats another story...

okay so tonight im putting toshi (my red cap) in some meds. I think it has some fin rot. Lets hope he gets better  Undecided
