Deciding about cycling a new tank for Goldfish
« on: June 03, 2014, 04:47:36 AM »

Hi I had tropical aquarium and I am going to convert it to goldfish so I sold all the fish and cleaned everything. We are going to move home 4 hours away from where I am now in 2 months time. Shall I cycle my tank now and put ammonia everyday to save the bacteria till we move or shall I wait till I move to my new house. If I wait I have to wait 1 more month till the cycle complete. I am bit impatient.

If I am cycling now I will start cycling in 1 week.  Huh Huh Huh

If I were you, I wouldn't bother trying to save the bacteria if you have no more fish. The stresses that come with moving can be a lot to juggle, and aquariums demand attention even if they don't have fish in them. My suggestion would be to try to be patient and shut everything down until you can get it set up permanently in your new home. Then buy a product that can help jump-start the cycling process such as Quickstart by API. Less brain damage  Wink
