new fantail in tank sick

We have a 2 year old black moor about 3-4 inches long. We moved him to a new ten gallon tank. We bought a new fantail about 2 inches long on Friday and put her in with him. We have well water so no problems with chemicals. The fantail seemed okay at first but by Sunday night she was just sitting on the bottom. I took her out Monday morning and put her in a holding tank. She's making a bit of a recovery I think. She's eating but not swimming too much. Is there a problem with putting her in with the moor?
Thanks

All due regards, but putting two goldfish in a ten gallon tank is inhumane.
you would increase the happiness and comfort of your fish if you moved them to a larger tank-usually ten gallons for every inch of fish is a safe way to go.
your probalem is probably an internal disease caused by fish overcrowding. the solution is to treat the fish with antibacterials and move them into a much larger tank with a large enough filter and see if the problem continue. in the unlikely event that it does, you should buy replacement gravel for the tank (because there might be a parasite/nasty thing living in the gravel).

Thanks for your response.
I had no idea I needed such a big tank. We have another tank so I separated them for now.
I'm treating them with Jungle brand LifeGuard... an antibacterial and antifungal every 24 hours. They're on their second dose right now.
Feldman, the moor, is our family member and I don't want to loose him. He is currently covered in a greyish white coating and 2 of his scales have fallen off. What have I done! He seemed perfectly healthy until we moved him and put the new fantail in with him. He is also not swimming around very much. Spends most of his time sitting on the stones but will make the effort to swim once in a while.
The fantail seems in worse shape than he is. Her fins are all splitting and she can hardly swim at all.
They also haven't eaten for the last 4 days. I've got all the water testing stuff and the parameters are all safe/ideal. I've also got aquarium salt in the water. Do I just keep up the medications and worry about them eating later. I'm hoping that when they feel better they will start eating again.
I've spent the last week reading this site and going to aquarium stores to get all the things I need. I'm putting a conditioner of some sort in the water with benefical bacteria.
Any other advise would be appreciated. I want them survive.

My guess is the new fantail you recently introduced to your black moor tank infected your moor with some sort of disease. All new fish should be quarantined for a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks in a separate tank and treated with medication to make sure they don't harbor any disease or parasites. Commercial pet store chains are notorious for selling diseased fish to unsuspecting new pet fish owners. These sick fish often do not survive for long after you take them home.
Let's hope the medication will help your black moor. Just remember to quarantine any new live plants or fish in the future.
best of luck friend
