Hi my mane is joe and these are my three buddies..... All started when my mother too out 7 year old to a fair about 10 months ago and we acquired our first fish. His name ( bare with me I have kids ) Super fish ........ Well turns out he is a super fish. Cause he just keeps on growing. So after we gave in and got rid of the 10 gallon that housed him this is what we went to.  75 gallon with dual Penguin power filter 350s. This is as much and as many as will inhabit this tank until i feel they need larger if that time comes. I would rather have less fish that are happy and healthy that i get to know very well rather then have a bunch.  Oh and feeding them new life spectrum inking pellets twice a day .... about 3 for each of the little dudes an 4 or 5 for the big dude

the multi colored guy is nemo ( i have a 3 year old this was non negotiable )

Now this is my first tank and have seen lots of different fish but i have found myself fond of my three goldfish. They are a blast to watch and well they all seem to have adhd which works for me cause i have adhd ( we understand each other )


I am 4 weeks into cycling this tank and have made a few well one major mistake at the end of week 2 i followed the directions on the filter package and replaced both filters ( i know i know i know i know)..... Everything is where it should be except i am constantly fighting ammonia levels that range rom 1ppm to 2ppm any suggestions


Let me know what you guys think and any advice on the ammonia part would be great.. sorry for the blurry pics they are off my cell

It's a nice setup, bravo for getting such a lovely spacious tank! However as Scriven's has noted, it's highly likely these fish will out grow your current set up. Single tailed goldfish are notorious for growing very big! (As you've observed with super fish!).

They can be upgraded to a pond once they reach around 5 or 6 inches, so they have the room to grow to their full potential of 1 foot.
Quite often you can find local neighbours or parks with a pond who could take the fish and you could always take the children to see them in their new home Or if you are able too, you could always have a pond yourself or consider a larger tank when the fish have grown large aquaria of 6 or 7 foot can be viable for 3 common goldfish Just something to keep in mind

I think your tank would be a viable 'forever' home for some fancy goldfish though Perhaps 2 or 3.

As for the ammonia, have you tested your tap water? I had issues with ammonia for ages and couldn't figure out what it was, until I realised there was a constant source coming from my taps!

Sounds like your tank is mid-cycle

The first bacteria that develop convert ammonia to NO₂
Then a second set of bacteria develop, and they convert NO₂ to NO₃

So you are about half-way in the cycle; so keep doing the water changes and tests' You're doing fine 



TBH it's probably cheaper to build a pond than buy a 6 ft tank and equip it; when your goldies are ready to move your existing tank could easily house 3 or 4 fancies
