How Many Tiny Socks ? ? ?

April's last post got me into this idea to start this topic, it is a bit of fun too, lol

As Xmas is approaching in very big steps now ( stores here already decorated and Xmas goods available )
I thought let get everybody on here to calculate their need of tiny socks you'd hang up around the fireplace or here in Aussie around your BBQ in the entertainment area...

This is my calculation.... now, should I start to knitt them ?

5 socks for our goldies
18 socks for the 34 l tank
9 socks for the 20 l tank
2+2+13+13=30 + x babies

I think by xmas, if your fish are still breeding like they are you will need more than 100 socks! Grin

I have 100 pets total. Smiley

What do you buy fish for Christmas though? Haha I always had this problem, I brought a couple of ornaments for a few years but you can only buy so many, especially in the small tank I use to have. So I haven't brought my fish anything in a few years for Christmas Tongue

We always get my dog something as she can unwrap her own presents and enjoys doing that more than actually playing or eating her presents. We have two birds so we'll get them something too Smiley

I think you'll be very poor if you get all your fish presents Hanna Cheesy

It is soo lovely... well we don't have a fireplace... no heaters here as we live in the subtropics, only aircon, lol but I thought of having sth like a garland with socks around the tank stands, lol.

I remember when I was a kid and we lived in Romania, it was tradition for "Nikolaus" to put polished shoes out and Nikolaus came with his big sack on his back and filled all our shoes with chocolates, apples, nuts. This happened on the 5th of December.
And then we had Xmas on Xmas eve with unpacking the presents then and having a big dinner. Same thing in Germany. Different here in Australia Wink

Yeah, fishies will be spoiled....

Yeah we don't do the sock thing either but it is very cute, don't have a fireplace either Tongue I'll have to go searching for some yummy foods to buy my fishies for christmas, maybe a plant. But they'd have get that early as I'm not sure when the fish shop will close  Undecided

Look at Humphrey and Hep in their Santa hats! Adorable Smiley you could make that photo a Christmas card! This isn't my home I'm only renting it from family and the fireplace doesn't work in that it hasn't been serviced in years and it wouldn't be safe to start a fire in there. It is fun to decorate though around the holidays Wink So far I haven't come across any aquarium trees that light up but I'm considering making one of my own. Thanks for your nice comments and it is so interesting to learn of different traditions around that time of year in all the countries of the world. In our house as children, we always received a mandarin orange in the toe of the stocking and a few hard candies too.  It was St. Nick who'd be paying a visit down the chimney and if we'd been bad we would get only coal in our socks Sad On Christmas eve we were allowed to open one gift. It was magical.

Well Mindemae I sure came close Wink years ago, where I worked they sold candy that looked exactly like a piece of coal and it ended up in my sock  Shocked bahahaha those were the days and at this time of year I would get to decorate 12, 8 foot tall Christmas trees in the store - what an awesome job! It usually took us 2 weeks with a crew of 5 to get it up and running. Each tree had over a 1000 lights on it! pssst...I've got a secret....I put that many lights on mine too Wink Ode to the hydro Gods during the holidays!

We always have our Parol ( Filipino Christmas Lantern) hanging by our bay window from the beginning of September and after the Three Kings Day.  Cheesy

Aww how cute!!!  Grin I am so excited to be hanging a little one too for sweet Tailer ♥ I do a lot of jewelry designing with Swarovski crystal beads and I am wondering if I could make a little xmas tree out of pieces from plastic tank plants and fix them to a plastic cone of some sort as a 'tree' shaped base and then add the crystals...of course there is the question of the levels of lead in the tiny crystal beads hmmm it's time to get crafty  Wink

Well according to lead, there are those lead wires around the plants, I also use lead sinkers so they cannot be uprooted.

I just read an article about lead in crystal and that now days, the process is so refined that it is literally sealed within a matrix on a molecular level in the crystal so there is virtually no exposure. I noticed that about the lead sinkers and wires and remember that my Father once had many of these in his tanks but it never harmed his fish. Oh now I can't wait to start decorating ahhh this is so much fun!  Cheesy

Thats it, I'm decorating Tiger's and Sono's tank  for Christmas. Hang some garland or something XD and yes, Im going to find baby socks for their stockings XDXD This Christmas is gonna be fun! My birthday's gonna suck though, I have an exam at eight XDXD
