Brine Shrimp/Daphnia

I was thinking of raising brine shrimp and/or daphnia in the future to feed to my fish.  Do the fish prefer one over the other or does it just depend on the fish?  Is one more nutritious for them? 

Also does anyone know if you change their water and if so how?  There so small - wouldn't some come out with the water?  Huh

Brine shrimp are usually raised as fry food and you only hatch a certain amount of eggs at a time to feed the larvae to your fish. But it is possible of course to try and raise them 'til they're adult. The eggs can be bought in a pet store and there are usually instructions there too. The nauplii use to be kept in a bottle of sorts, with slightly salty water, but I think you need a small tank to raise them to adult hood. Now that, I don't know too much about, so ask around or look in books!

But I would advice you to buy ready live foods instead, it'd be cheaper and less work for you, especially if you're not very experienced with keeping fish yet Smiley

In case you find this book anywhere, it would be worth buying it Smiley I found it real cheap myself just few days ago Cheesy
It's called "The Complete Aquarium Guide" and has many useful chapters about everything. Just in case you'll need some further advice about the different kinds of fish you want to keep, or about plants, or filtration or... whatever Wink "Encyclopedia of Aquarium and Pond Fish" by David Alderton is great too! It has very nice profiles of hundreds of different fish, catfish included, so you could check their sizes and requirements out Cheesy

Argh, sounds like some advertisement xD
