OK so i really want and out door pond for my 3 goldies and maybe to keep some koi but i dont know if it will be a good ideal for Vermont weather and im on a really tight budget of 100-300 dollars cause i dont think my parents would like it if i started digging holes out back of there business Smiley P.S. how big should it be if i get one.

Koi need 50 - 100 gallons each of space.
Goldfish need ten gallons each.
 
So about 350 gallons
It would be pretty big: 266 inches long, 126 inches wide and 152 inches deep.

With your budget I think you would  be best just sticking with goldfish. As fantailer said koi need a lot more space Wink
What is Vermont weather like? I'm from Australia Smiley
If it gets too cold then you will either need a heater (which would be pretty expensive to run all throughout winter in a pond) or a tank that you can put your goldfish inside for in winter.

If you'll decide to have koi, you can keep them outside all winter, BUT, I don't think that's a good idea for you at all since you live with your parents. So basically, they'll have YOUR pond when you move out...?
In other words, how about just keeping your goldies indoors until you'll have your own yard to dig up? Smiley
