i need advise guys!.... ;]

I have a 15 gallon tank w/ no fish yet...i just like to ask how many oranda and ryukin goldfish i can put it in...and just give me many helpful advise in my beginning of my fishing hobby...thanks..... ;]

One, at most. In this case preferably a ryukin since they don't grow as big as orandas. If you want more than that, you'll have to get a bigger tank Wink

One adult fish needs 20 gallons. Then add 10 gallons for every other fish. Meaning that you need a tank at least twice as big if you want even one of each kind.

id stick with just one ryukin for now, as he will get bigger, and as nossie said, they need ten gallons for one fish. Smiley

marina: Only one for now. You could see how it is taking care of goldfish and then if you like it, you could buy a bigger tank and some more fish d:

Marina,
I think you could have 2 at the most.  I have 2 orandas in a 16 gallon tank but the filter system is for a 30 gallon tank.  As long as you provide the extra filtering to get rid of the huge amount of wastes goldfish tend to produce and add extra aeration in the form of an airstone with air pump I don't see why 2 fish wouldn't be able to live in your tank comfortably right now.  In the future, you might want to upgrade to a larger tank when they out grow it.

hi

don't know if i am typing in the right place, I have 1 goldfish in a tank of 6 and 2 suckies as the family call them They have all swam happily for over 1 year, now 1 has got very fat, it's eyes are bulging and it's scales are starting to look different. At first we thought eggs maybe on the way but with her eyes popping out we are now not sure. Water is brill but she seems to be gasping all the time. Can anyone help me with an answer? PLEASE

Tracy,
This does not sound healthy at all. Sad  It sounds like it might be dropsy.  Do her scales look sort of bristly, like a pinecone, when you look her straight on?  I'd treat with an antibiotic in a hospital tank.  You can get a little ten gallon one with a filter (just not one that uses carbon, which can soak up all the medicine).  You can use the water from the aquarium you have to fill it, just don't put the antibiotic in the main tank as it will mess with the bacteria.  If the antibiotic does nothing, I'd check with a vet.

I would say no to guppies. Apparently the goldfish eat the guppies. AND they multiply like crazy

Neons are tropical (as most tetras), but they need pretty warm and soft water. About 26 degrees Celsius.

The goldfish would most definately eat the neons since they are as small or smaller than guppies.
You probably could add 1 more small goldfish like a fantail or something after your tank is finished cycling.
You might want to add a bigger filter when your fish get bigger.
When I add Thor (new oranda) to my 30 gallon tank I will replace the filter with one for a 55 gallon.

Get some mollies Cheesy Mom bought two more of those recently when she was suffering from "empty tank syndrome". They take good care of possible algae growth as well C:
I didn't really see how much of decorations you've got in your tank, but I always support plants! More plants!
Gives hiding places to your fish and consumes nitrates (: Good things~

i have fake plants. I dont have the time to take care of real ones... Sad I wish I did. I'll upgrade to a forty gallon filter maybe next month or the month after that.. no money this month

As scary as it sounds "maintaining" real plants... it's not such a big deal d: Mine are doing fine on their own, and all I do, is to cut off the top if they grow too big Cheesy (Which I did like once every few weeks so far) If you'd get an anubias of some kind, you might not even have to do that! Cheesy

Hi,
I do have Elodea and two other kind of plants in our tank and our fish love them, as they also nibble on them. It gives them a bit a change in their diet. It is like us humans eating salads. At the same time plants produce O2 and contribute to a healthy environment.
I posted some photos under "2 new comet goldfish", hope somebody can tell me what the other plants are?
