Stealth Pooper?
« on: May 04, 2010, 10:54:22 PM »

This may sound odd and paranoid, but I have not seen Spot poo in days, and I only see the others poop rarely.  They're healthy, they love their food, they seem normal, but I haven't been seeing them poo much.  I fed them mostly peas yesterday, so they can't be constipated.  I hope they're pooping, even if I don't see it.  I don't know any other way to check other than staying up all day and night, looking for them to answer nature's call.
Does anyone else have this issue?

Well, it is good to read that you observe your fishes poo, too.
So do I, like with little babies if you can see normal poo, all is fine and you do not worry.
So I do understand your concern very well.

After I fed Humpsi and Hepsi some peas, it happenes too, that I do not see a bit.
Then I feed crisps, they are very pink in colour and then it happens that I do see "healthy & thick" pink poopis and I am happy. Sometimes I can see those pink pieces on the white gravel, not for long though, because the filter sucks them away. Humphrey is a champ in producing those trails, Hepsiba may be a little shy and does it in the dark, lol  Cheesy

But the best thing is to observe, keep looking. Best time to do it when you are at home for one day.
I do have the "luxury" that our tank is a free standing one in the open plan living and kitchen area, so even if I cook I can see them and they can watch me too. ( Should have seen their eyes when I baked this orange-poppy seed - cake....) And when I comment their poo, my dear hubby replies: " Hannaaaa...." lol and I must laugh

It's just a good thing that you can't see your fish poop. Because it's not a good thing if it's trailing after them, that means you're feeding them too much at a time. And then you should definitely change the amount of food you give and give them less but more often.
Goldfish poop is rather supposed to fall off as soon as it comes out when everything's alright Wink

So just be happy, I think you'll see it happen at some point d:

Humpsi's is not trailing too long, only a few minutes, because it is so "healty" it takes abit until it breaks off, lol  Grin
