I feed him about 5-7 granules mornings and evenings. But in your case, because you keep him in such a small glass  I'd feed him about 4 granules mornings, lunch and evenings.
And you must do frequent waterchanges

That won't prevent new tank syndrome  Look it up. Maybe you just meant to help but still, a tank/bowl should be cycled before adding fish.

I wouldn't feed your Betta 3 X's a day!!!  I have mine in gallon bowls and I feed them once a day usually 3-4 pellets and sometimes I give them a second feeding like twice a week in the form of frozen bloodworms.  Most Betta people say to fast one day since Bettas can become bloated.  Most of them fast their Bettas on Sunday.  I never have but I do a complete water change once a week and then don't feed them until the next morning.  My one betta, Buddy is over 2 years old now, still active and colorful, which is surprising since most Bettas when they get old their color fades some.
I use water conditioner by Aqueon in their bowls.  It is a complete condtioner and also adds trace minerals to the water that atre beneficial to Bettas.
A live plant is good to have in their bowl too.  Like Hanna says, they like to sit on the leaves or swim through it or hide in the leaves too.

Oh yeah, to answer your question on hearing the betta eat.
Just listen real closely the next time you drop a pellet in and he begins chewing it.
You will here a distinct "crunch crunch crunch"

I know someone how feeds there betta once a weak is that bad thing

Our bettas get  their food twice a day, they know when it's feeding time and I feed them about 6 pellets, one at the time.
Barbarossa munches them immediately, Sindbad chews them, spits them out and then munches them.
I also feed bloodworms and blackworms once a week.

I believe a small amount of food once or twice a day is much healthier than a bigger amount once a week.
It would make me feel bad filling my own tummy every day but my fishies must fast 6 days out of seven.

My bettas (Comet and Cupid are their names ) they love to eat their pellets right before lights out. Bout a year ago I observed how large my sister's female betta fish was. When I asked her how much she fed she said six to ten pellets once every day. At the time Cupid, my lovely yellow and pink female betta, was very very small. So I upped her food to about 8 pellets. She grew super fast after that, now she is about 3 or 4 inches long including the tail. She is very big and healthy now, living in her gallon bowl. I always suck out uneaten food afterwards to prevent a water problem...
