small pond with four goldfish

do I need to have some type of air infiltration to keep the gold fish alive or can the goldfish just live
in the pond without?

It usually depends on the size of the pond and whether or not there are plants in it also. It is usually recommended to have some type of filtration for the fish so that the water can be kept clean. The pond is an artificial environment , so the filter will aid greatly in helping to convert fish wastes to a less toxic form, which can then be removed when you change some of the water in the pond.
