Good books?
« on: January 31, 2010, 04:48:22 AM »

Does anyone have any good suggestions on books about goldfish?
(preferably the fancier varieties and care)
I already have Fancy Goldfish by Dr. Erik Johnson and Richard Hess.

I love looking at pictures and reading about them (:

Hi Nossie,

I have:
FANCY GOLDFISH For The Fresh Water Aquarium by Paul Paradise
GOLDFISH Your Happy Healthy Pet by Gregory Skomal
GOLDFISH GUIDE by Dr. Yoshiichi Matsui & Dr. Herbert Axelrod
THE OFFICIAL GUIDE TO GOLDFISH Goldfish Society Of America

If you just want a beautiful book that is huge!! And has stunning pictures of all fish including goldfish and marine fish, how to set up a pond....stunning pictures!  I suggest:
ENCYCLOPEDIA OF AQUARIUM & PONDFISH by David Alderton

I also really like:
AQUAMASTER Today's Essential Guide To Keeping GOLDFISH by Bernice Brewster and Nick Fletcher
In this book they have stunning pictures of good examples of different varieties of goldfish, how they are judged for show by points, etc.

I have some vintage books too...I like reading about how goldfish use to be kept many years ago and how different it is today!

Thanks! (:

In that book I have they have a section where they're mentioning differences between today's and past times ways of keeping goldfish, as well as the most important things to judge by at a show! I've read it so many times... :'D
