fantailer: That's not a ryukin, he doesn't have the hump behind the head Smiley

Thanks everyone.  I'm a proud mamma Grin

He's ryunkin....or at least that's what the sign in the shop indicated.  I have no clue about breeds....he's just my fishy.  Any idea what breed he is?

I can't tell you the joy he's brought to my life.  I love watching him swim around after work.  It's very relaxing.

I'm a bit embarrassed to post pics of my tank.  It's not beautiful like the others posted here.  Doing a daily water change has rearranged the silk plants and I'm not great at decorating.

He's a fantail Smiley You can easily tell the difference between fantails and ryukins on the arch of the back, ryukins have a very prominent hump as opposed to fantails. some people are confused when it comes to fantails with deeper bodies or larger bellies, but the difference lies on the backs.

Like on these pics, here's a ryukin:

and here's a fantail:

It's very common for shops to have the fish mislabeled, no surprise since they think goldfish should be kept in bowls... Wink

Please post pictures anyway! I bet it's really beautiful Smiley

I see. Well at least I know he's a fantail.   Grin

Scrivens - are they your fish?  They are beautiful. Wow!
